Hello,

my name is Sebastian, I´m 31 years old and coming from Münster in Germany.

My Car is an ´83 Blazer CUCV.

My question:

What is the correct color code/name of the brown CUCV interieur? My option sticker in the glovebox is gone.

I need the color, because I wnat to order a new dashboard for that truck. The original dash is cracked and I want to change it.

Thank you very much. And greetz from Germany...

Sebastian!

Interior color; Bronze. 85 GM - 76D Bronze Metallic. Good luck finding a good condition dash in this color. Mine is black. Most end up spraying a dash to match. I hear SEM 15063 Burgundy is a good match.

That is correct, the SEM 15063 is a really good match. I experimented with several paints. After all has been said and done, the SEM brand holds better, seems to be more durable and just looks better. I used Kryon for plastic and multi coat Rustoleum as well. The local upholstery shop gave me a great deal since he had tan and brown heavy duty vinyl already on hand from another job. So I ended up matching the rest of the interior plastic to the seats...ended up using mostly Rustoleum 'esspresso.' Hindsight...would have used the SEM brand in a matching brown.

Hello,

thank you for your quickly help. I think, I order a black dash and match it with the SEM "Burgundy". Are the dashes from classicparts.com a good choise?

Sebastian!

Get a GREY dash pad, as it will take the bronze color much easier

And any auto paint shop should be able to mix up the bronze metallic - give them the code listed above

85 GM - 76D Bronze Metallic 3254 - SEM codes

OR

82 GM - 76DN Dk Bronze 3054 - SEM codes

I have a can of each, though I've yet to use the bottom one, the LOOK the same in the can - cost of a 1 qt can mixed was about $60 here in the US - to paint the dash and both door panels uses less than 1 qt

been there, done that - here's a thread on the results

here is the spray gun I used - got it from a paint store, but this one is at Home Depot - check this thread

I guess it always depends on what you want, but I painted my dash with a good old fashioned paint brush and it looks as good as anything I've ever sprayed. How it holds up over time, who knows, but by the same token, it will be a very easy touch up if I ever need to.

??? I do. I am on earth. And every CUCV ever produced from 1983-1987 had Bronze interior panels and trim when it left GM Assembly 3100 Van Slyke Road Flint Michigan 48507. Why is that an issue? ;)

You know the units never saw bronze colored CUCV interiors. Why tell that to a current restorer? The interior color of panels and seats was a subdued burgundy/maroon. It would be more useful to tell restorers the name of the official subdued burgundy/maroon.

We never say CUCV exterior colors were unpainted steel gray.

Ice good morning, you are digging yourself into a hole here. Do some search and you will find the truth. No need to get into an argument on this. The facts stated are correct on the color.

I think we're dealing with what a company, or someone, is calling "bronze" but that no user then or now, perceives as bronze. I was a user of these vehicles when they were delivered to Ft. Hood and elsewhere in early 1985. We never saw anything bronze on or in these vehicle. If someone waved their magic wand and declared them "bronze" so be it. Maybe the paint container is labeled bronze but a subdued burgundy/maroon comes out?

There must be thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who agree with me.

So let some inexperienced current owner order BRONZE interior paint for his CUCV and we can all laugh about it.

That is why paint color codes were provided to help the person that initiated the question

We all agree that the color to the eye is Burgundy. The color per technical specs is bronze

Thank you for your service

As a "professional restorer" you should have factory color codes by each year and special order contract . So if you are disputing the information provided here please provide the correct factory documents to back up your claims.

Walk into any home or automotive paint store.
You will see hundreds of samples of paint, that are called something COMPLETELY different than what color it actually looks like.
GM did just that with the CUCVs.
