Does anyone have the part number for the glow plug sensor that tells the relay if the
engine needs them or not. I think mine is bad because; when its cold outside and I need
them the wait light will not come on, but if its 70F or so the wait light will come on like it
should when the truck is cold.

Also I dont think that my fast idle solenoid works, how do I test that and get it to work.

Thanks.

have your buddy turn the ignition to run while you watch the FIS to see if it snaps in.. if not give it a push and see if it holds in (engine cold not running). If it does it is ok but just lazy. I always preset mine by holding the go pedal down a ways before I crank taking the load off the solenoid. If it snaps in and does not idle fast enuf to suit you, turn the screw in a coupla turns. Remember that same temp sensor also adjusts the timing...and if it is working, you should hear and feel the detonation change after about a 1/4 mile drive on a cold start.

I did notice that this morning in fact, I was driving along went probly .5 miles to the stop sign and when I took off something wasnt right the truck was quieter all of the sudden.
So then whats the deal with the wait light not coming on in the cold but it lights up when its like 60+

The part is not available anymore. But, there is a substitute one available through GM. Part is same in civy & Military. Easy install. Also think about putting in manual button to fire glow plugs. 8-10 seconds in spring/summer and 16 seconds in winter. Easy to do. Never fails, and cheap fix for it all.
Test fast idle by starting truck cold and waiting to see if idle drops after truck warms up.
