Honestly, any brand of diesel 15w-40 oil you want to use is just fine for those engines.

And always remember, I have the spin-on oil filter adapter kits available for sale!!!!

WalMart had Cheveron Delo for $8.50 a gallon. That is what I use in Diesel stuff here in LA.

Saw 2-18-10 post on this topic. Suggests not use multi -grade oils in air cooled units.

"Are these air cooled engines? Multi-grade oil is a no-no for air cooled engines, the high temperatures will burn the viscosity-modifying polymers and the oil will break down. Straight 30w is the way to go.

Jon"

Can anyone clarify best practice?

ive seen a lo with 30 and 15-40 recomended. i guess in cold climits below 30 degees the 15-40 would be the way to go. i use 30 rotella in all my 002s but dont see temps. like that exept maybee 2 or 3 times a year.

Yanmar calls for 10W30 so I assume multi viscosity is OK in them.
I don't think a good oil would have a problem in most air cooled engines.
What does Onan say about the commercial air cooled sets?

The generators have a pretty good oil cooler and at 100 hour oil change intervals prescribed by the TM I doubt you would wear out 15-40. I use Rotella 15-40 in mine as well.
