Starting/Stopping Engine with Cab Tilted?

It would be easy to make switches just to run the engine in a first gen truck. One switch powering on the fuel solenoid and a momentary switch to crank at the aux start solenoid. If you wanted dash power you would need a 3rd switch to activate the dash power relay.

If you have an A1 yes there are engine compartment switches to start/stop the engine. If you have a 3116, then no.
Do you have a picture to post? Online I see 3 switches above the area you describe, but don't see it on my truck. 2001 m1088 2010 bae rebuild. Either my a1 doesn't have it, or I'm looking in the wrong place :)

Does your truck go the full way with tanks full engine off? I can only get 3-4 ft of tilt. Wondering if I have a leak somewhere or an inefficient pump
Yes, I can lift my '97 M1078 cab fully up, and fully down, almost twice, on one full tank(s) of air. That's also what the manual says is to be expected.

ok I'll give that a shot. I just got a pump handle in case the air/hydraulic system does not lift it.
I lifted my cab with the engine running and then switched it off and lowered the cab. I'll try a full cycle next time.

Despite my best efforts I could not locate the engine serial number. If it's under the alternator I think I would need to remove that part to see it.

Engine serial should be on top of valve cover. Sometimes military rebuilds and removes the label. They usually put something on one end of the motor. The early a1 trucks dont have the engine bay start stop switches.

There is some kind of smog cert on the valve cover. I guess I will need to pull the air pipes off to fully inspect the top. Is it a printed label or stamped in?

On one of my engines it was an engraved aluminum plate, about the size of a dollar bill. On the other engine, it was a paper label with a clear "sticker" over it, about the same size.
