That is exactly what I did using that braided sheathing on my slave cable, I don't like that corrugated plastic stuff. I found some braiding that kinda looked like desert storm colors, I rewired my trailer with it and every time I walk by it I think its a snake!

Finally putting together a slave cable. This one is 22' and 2/0.
I’ve been sitting on a pair of the plugs for a while, wondering how to wrap or otherwise tie the wires together.

What’s the name, brand, style, of the braid you used?

It was really hard to get fed through. At the bottom of the page another one comes up with a zipper that would make it easier. And I admit to some friends laughing at me last night for dying the blue denim to make it black. For under $10, its a great way to keep them together.

So forgive me here. But why are you running just one end on it? We have a few of these laying around. The biggest crap thing is i had 12 sets of these in my barn when it was robbed a couple years back. Just now noticed they were gone.

They are ridiculously handy if you have more than one 24v vehicle(or genset)!
I have a set of jumpers 25' that I made from heavy DC mining cable (pair in rubber cover, 2/0). The end clamps would crush a finger. If you can get them into position...they don't let go and it's no wimpy connection. I seem to be slower every time I use that jump set on my 931... I have a Hawker giving me fits. Maybe at some point I won't need a jump. It's a real PIA to have to go under the seat and clamp to the battery terminals, and there are so many places to short to, if the jumper clamp gets turned wrong.

I didn't take a picture, but the wire and copper lug that was in these slave ends, had only about 1/8" between the poles, across the surface and no barrier (insulator). It was a perfect place for electrolyis. I've had other ends and found a green corrosive at similar tight spots, sometimes the copper is eaten away in that area, bolts rust and battery drains. When wet, electrons flow across the surface from conductor to conductor....that has to be prevented.

New cable ends are not as wide where the bolt connects and they don't come as close together. There is about 3/8" between poles now. Really for 24V, that is not enough. Clear silicone made a wall between the two conductors, so even when wet, that spot should not support electrolysis. Of course pulling the thing apart would not be fun.

BB88, The other end was in the trucks tool box. At the time I took the photo, I hadn't went out and retrieved it. Snow here and family Christmas fun, you know!

The one in the truck has just enough wire hanging out, I was using it with my other set of jumpers that have clamps, clamping to the bare wire ends.

I'll have the other end on tomorrow.

Man, that's too bad about some walking off. Hate it when that happens.
