Tire/wheel options for M105a2

Ok I do have a M105A2 trailer I would like to change the rims to a smaller size I do have a electric brake upgrade so I stop this beast I'm making it my tiny home . I'm towing it with a Jeep XJ 1994 automatic dayna 30 in the front and 8.25 Chrysler in the rear . I'm just a veteran that is going to explore the national parks and see the United States and thank you for helping out 😎👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thats a lot of trailer for a Jeep XJ.

That is a very big and heavy trailer for that Jeep.
Install a transmission cooler and hope for the best.

Edit
Sell the M105A2 and find a M101A2.
Much better suited trailer for your Jeep. Both in size and weight.
They can also be made into really cool campers.
Lots of examples to look at. Do a search and read away.

i do plan on getting a trans cooler for her but I was hoping that a smaller wheel set up would help me out ���� man this would really suck if I bought the wrong trailer I'm a disabled vet on a monthly budget ... I guess we'll see if the jeep can tow it ... It's going to be about a thousand pounds over it's towing capacity but I put heavier coilovers in the rear of the jeep so I guess I will update you guys on my status lol

You will save money getting a M101A2.
MUCH better for your Jeep as mentioned.
Surge brakes and smaller wheels, better towing angle, not as wide......just to name few

Even if you find smaller wheels, you still have to be able stop the trailer.
That means new axle and electric brakes. Not cheap.
Why spend that money and still have a trailer that’s too big and heavy?!

Right now, even empty, it will overwork and overload the brakes on your Jeep.
They are simply not designed for something that heavy.
Not being able to stop, especially in a panic to avoid a crash, can have deadly consequences.
Legal ones also since the Jeep's tow rating isn’t rated nearly enough for the M105A2.
Get into a wreck and your insurance company will deny any claim and drop you once they find out you were towing a trailer that exceeded the tow rating. Yes, law enforcement does check that.
Then the lawyers from the other guy will go after you......and win.
Kinda a lose-lose situation

Also consider the handling. The trailer is big and heavy enough to wag your Jeep around. Kinda like the tail wagging the dog.
Then you have the hitch angle.
You get the point I hope.

$125-$150 dollar trailer seems like a good deal until you figure out it’s almost useless unless you have a 2 1/2 or 5 ton truck.....which is what they were designed for.

Sorry Chris, but the 105 is too much for your Jeep.

You might handle it okay empty but with a load and no brakes, it will push you through an intersection. An 1101 would be another option with surge brake. Here is photo of my tongue mod for ball.

They are alright with the electric over hydraulic brake conversion and a 1 ton truck.
I saw there are some hydraulic surge brakes with electric backing lockouts that might work too.

Reducing to hummer size tires on bolster rims and reducing the spring pack, maybe even mount shocks, with functioning brakes, would make a nice around town trailer. Behind a Jeep does not seem to be a good idea....and terrible if you don't have functioning brakes.

Post #1 said he did a electric brake upgrade , but I still think it is to much trailer for the Jeep.
I'm looking at putting this set-up on my M149A2 . But I still won't hook it up to anything under 3/4 ton.

Electric brake upgrade for the M105??? Didn't know there was such a thing for that axle, but with a nice controller....hmmmm. Still...the Jeep does not seem to be enough mass.

I like the electric over hydraulic too....but it's pricey!

Time to buy a bobbed Deuce to tow that 105 trailer....if you can find one for sale that has the K-J dataplate, it would still be a "Jeep."
