This is a GP auction yesterday. It caught my attention since it went for such a cheap price. I was shocked at how much gen's were going for yesterday BTW! But, going thru the pictures I saw this cooling system mod. Anyone know what it is??? Very interesting

Yes, a very rare arctic heater kit. I have one on an 802 in my posession. Diesel fired plumbed into the cooling system to preheat. About $4k option when new, if memory serves from the last thread on it.

I haven't been watching auctions in the past month or so, but yes... since this past late summer (hurricane season) the prices have been up, up, up. So much so that I think I am done buying them. I have 5 or 6 to still come through at the moment, but I'll probably be done after that. I have some other things up my sleeve that will keep me around SS for a while though :)

I think I'm done buying them for now. I'm going to turn my attention to service. I'm sure there are a number of machines floating around my area that need some TLC.

+1 on the artic heater. I would have loved to pick up a unit with one installed. I've been looking for a reasonably priced heater to add to my personal unit.

Neat gadget to have. But at 5 degrees here in CT the 802/803s dont seem to have any problem starting with a second of preheat. If you were deep in negative weather territory I could see having it. I still have plenty of 803s here I have yet to go thru. Not enough time in the day.

Yeah most of the time we are going to be fine... but its real nice to have when we get into the -15 range in some winter spots each year. I hear you 100% on the time in the day comment... past the increased auction baselines, I have so many other things that need to occupy my time right now that gensets become expensive yard ornaments till I can get back to them.

No kidding ! I still have 5 units I need to get running again. My wife says to just take them all to the scrapper ! She just doesn't see the "big" picture ! Mainly something for me to do with my time now that I'm retired.
