Hello guys,

I have a problem with my lmtv, doesn’t matter if the engine is hot or cold it needs to crank for approximately 10 to 15 seconds before she fires up.

When it fires up she runs good and doesn’t smoke. When I shut it down and start it immediately again it sometimes is better but still takes about 5-10 seconds before she runs. It had 5 lmtv’s in my yard last year so I know how they suppose to start. Normally when you push the Button they fire right up.

I have a feeling it’s a fuel problem , sofar I only took apart the fuel return / check valve but that looked good.

How do you test the fuel return check valve ?

Does anybody have experience trouble shooting the fuel system ?

Believe that you are loosing fuel prime due to a tiny leak in the primer bulb. Air in the injection system is especially bad for this engine.

I installed 2 transparent fuel lines. One on the fuel return line and the other one after the fuel water separator to the fuel transfer pump.

There is no air in both of the fuel lines. Also the fuel doesn't flow back to the tank.

I've downloaded all the Caterpillar 3116 manuals from the barringtondieselclub. really is worth the $19.

If you have no air bubbles that way..... maybe next try a high quality injection cleaner??? NOT the kind you put in your tank. but the kind made to be sucked right out of the bottle or you fill the fuel filter with it so it gets sucked in first when running
