I ran across these on a ranch today and am not exactly sure what they are. I know 2 of them are deuces but not what years, etc... The red one is different. I t is much wider with huge axles. Any idea on years and any value here? they are mostly complete with Gasoline engines. thumbnail (1).jpgthumbnail (2).jpgthumbnail (3).jpgthumbnail.jpgtrucks.jpgthumbnail (1).jpgthumbnail (2).jpgthumbnail (3).jpgthumbnail.jpgtrucks.jpg

The yellow trucks are GMC m211s. The red one is an m39 series 5 ton with what looks to be an m135 bed on the back. The GMCs are early 1950s, the 5 ton could be as well or just a little newer.

I thought they may be older. I am going back out soon to see if they are worth salvaging. I think there is some good usable parts here

I have a hazy recollection of the GMCs being sold on GSA Auctions not many years ago. Those trucks always stick out in my mind because it amazes me that they served our government in various capacities for 60+ years. You can see they were used for brush trucks. In my opinion, they are worth more complete than as parts. Be aware that the mud truck crowd does not use those axles. Fixing to flip is a bad idea, as they need weeks of work to get them on the road. The GMCs are basically collector vehicles now, and not the most popular by far.

Not sure about big red but ole' yellers may be worth scrap value. Or,..... a short fat balding guy may have removed the spark plugs every year, turned the motors, kept the critters out of the holes and replaced all the brake parts just before storing them. They could be drivers. There is an $18,000.00 early deuce running around here because that's what the guy paid for it. The 302 engine in the M211's have pistons that tend eat cylinder walls so .....you know, be careful. You should be able to turn the engines by hand....make sure the darn key is off.

I would have loved to see these roll off the paint line with that shiny stream of yellow just flowing down the highway. They'd make decent Civil Defense, Emergency Measures Organization, Fire Department or military gate guards if the drive-trains are gone. M211 boxes, Hoods, window frames, fenders, fuel tanks, air paks, tie rod ends, gauge assembly, steering wheels, exhaust manifolds, spark plugs, distributors, capacitors, condensers, coil, points, water-pump plug wires, the hose from the carb to the air bath, mufflers are some of the items the trucks tend to need. I wonder if that's part of the reason these trucks aren't popular.

NDT has more recollection in his pinky finger than I'll ever hope to have so if you're looking them over and have specific questions about them, you're in great company.

they are almost totally complete, the rancher said they parked them there many years ago, we are going to go out and see if they turn over soon. he has 4 of them and just wants one runner. I am pretty sure we could get one running out of the bunch.

well they all 3 have a free engine. I bet at least 1 will run. I cannot wait to see if they will fire.
Bring a gas can with an electric fuel pump and some 3/8 fuel hose. Disconnect the in-tank pump. And a couple of hot batteries. Check the points for corrosion, seems to happen when they sit. All three will most likely run, but I promise the brakes won't work.
