New member and owner of a 1990 M998. Looking for a backup camera solution and wanted to see if anyone has had any luck installing a product that they like.

Was thinking a front and rear camera that has its own screen.

Would love feedback and pictures of installs

Do you have a link to the product?

I have a Pyle system in a 5ton. Comes with 4 cameras and records over itself every 3 days. Not bad cameras. 2 are backup. 2 are optical. Either way they all 4 record when the system is on. Has saved my but ok a few instances. It is 24v as well.

Note the street price is quite a bit lower than that. It also does not include a screen, that's what I was saying, it works with an existing Garmin nav so you don't have to have two things in the cab. I guess some people would see that as a feature or a problem. I also liked that it was wireless.

I have used this unit on two different trucks. I have a forward view to assist in gong over obstacles. A rear view that I use just like my rear view mirror and one mounted on the passenger side that acts as a passenger side view mirror.

When i am driving I have a split screen that shows my rear view and my passenger side view that works great to get rid of some of the many blind spots.

I mounted the monitor on the headed just left of the wiper motor. It looks like a big rear view mirror.

I originally mounted a home door viewer camera in the body of my ambulance but then saw one of the newer and smaller cameras mounted in the hole in the D pillar directly above the pintle hitch and mounted another camera there. It works perfectly as a rear view camera and makes coupling up to a trailer a snap. For a display I mounted a Garmin 7200 Street pilot GPS on the vent duct in the corner of the drivers windshield. It's easy to see without taking your eyes off the road and doesn't block your view at all and can be used as a GPS or a rear view monitor.

Did you link the wrong system on Amazon, that one doesn’t appear to have a record function?

Since my Humvee does not have a rear view mirror I thought about combining that with a backup camera. Thought it may create a clean or space. Has anyone had any luck with some of the products below?

It has a link to add the 64Gb memory for recording so I'm guessing that is the right one, plus he put videos up of vehicle accident earlier this year. It might be wrong.

I see now, also has a link for $99 Pyle DVR, looks like an add on as well.
The one i have is no longer available thru amazon.

It is pyle PLCMTRDVR46

It is this one though https://spyshop.shopbuilder.co/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=571327

Might shop around for cheaper.

Quality is decent. In the accident video you can actually see my headlights cycling off and on by the circuit breaker on the ground from the trailer lights being grounded out from the impact.

I have the x1pro and like it. It can be left in a rear view mirror mode while driving which is what I wanted. Works well in low light and does record about 3 days worth of front and rear video on a 64gb card in good quality. Has software on the card you can run on your computer which shows gps location, elevation, in sync with the video.

You can view video playback on the mirror, though fast forward is not available on the mirror itself - only when using the computer software which is one drawback I found. Installation was easy - do need 12v though.

Here's a link to a video from the front camera on the X1pro: https://youtu.be/L9EJhrCVGFE
Set your youtube viewer to HD to see full quality
Wow! That's great quality! How do you have it mounted

Is it the one that comes with a window mount or one that slides on an existing mirror.

I'm having trouble spending $320 on a x1 with mount with the x2 is on sale at $207 but it straps to an existing mirror. So I would have to buy a cheap mirror.

Also, since the Humvee window is 90 degrees vs normal 60-70ish degree. Was the mount hard to install?

The x1pro is actually a newer model than the x2. The x1 pro replaces an existing mirror (window mount), so I had to add a mirror mount 'tab' from the help line at the local auto parts store. I have an overhead console, and it worked better to mount on it that hanging down than on the windshield or center post. Angle of the mirror mounting arm is not right for the vertical hmmwv windshield. You'd probably have to make an L bracket to mount without the console. Can take a picture in a few days if you remind me, not near the hmmwv till after turkey day.

Here is what we did in the original Battlewagon: https://gear-report.com/b/4PR

The Battlewagon 2.0 will get a different type of backup camera setup than the original Battlewagon.

The slantback top on 2.0 has no window. So, a rear view mirror mounted monitor just won't work.

This 7" LCD monitor (https://amzn.to/2JkXb99) mounts on the dash, center console, or via a window mount and will show up to 4 cameras at the same time.

I tested it with 2x flush mount cameras (https://amzn.to/2Q90Yss) and found they all work great.

Looks like I may have to get 2 more cameras to show other views since the monitor can handle it.

The current plan is to mount one at each rear corner facing aft so I can see how much clearance I have when backing. I should probably also put one up high facing aft as a standard centered backup cam. That leaves one more... maybe a Turret-cam! :)IMG_20181027_151932.jpgIMG_20181027_152720.jpgIMG_20181027_152727.jpgIMG_20181027_152735.jpg

And Cobra sent this forward and aft facing camera with DVR to record our driving exploits: https://amzn.to/2SaxsmM
Since the aft camera looks to be for interior use, it will probably be used as a passenger compartment camera.

Are there any 4 or six camera options that will record? With GPS?, with navigation?
