MTVR RECOVERY from Yermo cali to Georgia

Just purchased a solid running MTVR from gov planet, once the EUC clears I’ll be east bound and down nothing but tail lights... hopefully.

I need advise, I’m familiar with the basics of recovery, and managed to get my M923A2 home 870 miles from Houston when it hadn’t been on the road in 4+ years with great luck, with that said, what are some challenges an mtvr might present? I have a CDL and clear to drive

I called gov planet and they told me “you are not allowed to drive the truck offsite”, what’s your experience? Will they actually allow it, and if they won’t, who is in the AO and can tow bar me just outside to where I can drive away into the sunset?

Stick with i40. Get with silverstate 55. If you can get it to his place In cedar city UT maybe run thru it and go over everything. Remember you will have a time finding parts for anything till we can get a manual to cross reference anything. More members and help along i40 unlike I 10 or i20. Long haul back. Plan on it being around Christmas before the Euc clears. And.gov planet depends on the yard and the staff I have driven 915s off their lot and tower trailers home.

Few members in Albaquerque. Royalflush is in western OK. Tin star is near OKC. Then you are close enough to me after that.

Member there in SLC is selling some spare tires and wheels for an MTVR. Could get them for a decent price and shipped down to silverstate55s place you have a spare or two.

If you can't line up a tow, ask what there policy is on Marine Corps Civilians with a Government Issued MTVR License is. I just so happen to possess one for my job aboard MCLB Albany.

I just bought one too and am waiting on my EUC. I'm about 90 miles from Yermo and can help if you need. I have a few spare rims and tires along with a filter maintenance kit. I haven't bought a vehicle from Yermo in the past few years but for other items the employees will bring the item out to the street as you are not allowed into the yard. Once you pick it up there are a couple dirt lots that are close and you can pull over and do a pre trip. I would bring fuel with you. All the trucks I've see our almost out of diesel and the closest station is several miles away.

Worst case is see if they'll allow for it to be flat towed, or I have a M322 trailer.

Awesome! Welcome to the 7 ton club, what does the filter kit consist of? I’d like to have a spare tire and wheel. Unfortunately mine is low on fuel too

The mk23 on the m322 creates too much tongue weight and a 5 ton without mods wouldnt like it. At all. Flat towing would be best together.

Yea having a spare is a must. Local tire shop isn't going to have a 16.00. The filter kit is every filter on the truck including the air dryer and after cooler for the dryer.

The M322 will get him far enough away from the yard and out of site from the employee. Definitely not a option for a long haul especially with the hills around here.

food for thought that the mtvr take different tow bar feet. They were on ebay periodically as no one wanted them.... Several sets available very reasonable! I am not the seller just sharing intel for those who are joining the 7 ton club. (Yes, I am officially jealous )

Stupid thing is that the 1.5in MTVR feet will not fit a M915 series truck pad eyes. Always something. The heavy tow bar 1.5inch feet will fit the MTVR just fine though.

Ah okay, I'm with state farm as well. Just curious why get one from CA when they're in auctions closer? Where in Georgia are you located?

People for some reason are paying 2x what these raggedy GA trucks are worth, and I wasn’t willing to buy a truck missing any parts or with body damage or rust. They are only selling 5 trucks per week here to choke the market and drive price, only 1 nice truck slips out and the rest are rough or non runners;

I wanted the nicest I could get for the cheapest price starting out as I’ll be fixing it up and hopefully keeping it long term. One Georgia truck I was bidding on I ran the bids all the way to 14+ after almost winning it at 11,900; someone intervened at 3 seconds left and I went ahead and bid on a clean cali truck after losing. Someone paid almost 16,500 for a truck not worth 8!

Well guys, it’s time for action!

Our plane departs at 8:25EST and shall touch down in Ontario shortly after (California) and we will be picking up the MK23. Planning to do some hopefully-not-needed PCMS on the truck and will be ready to start the great 1900 mile journey from west coast to east coast.

I plan on running I-40 most of the way and will keep updated as possible, if you all don’t mind I ask you say a prayer on my behalf as this will require a tremendous amount of luck and answering of numerous prayers.
