ARTISAN's M916


I have a NIB Military BC3 that I am putting in my M916 and pulling the bad BC1.
As I understand it, I have to swap bell housings.

To install anew I need to use a dial indicator to center the bell housing on the crank
to spec. Todays question is what is the proper tool to use to spin the crank when my
dial indicator is attached to the flexplate?

I need a get a dial indicator too.

A normal size dial indicator works fine. Just stick it to the flex plate or bolt a piece of flat stock to the end of the crankshaft. Use a big socket on the accessory drive pulley nut, turn it slowly!

I found a dial indicator that doesn't break the bank...

I wish spinning the crank was that simple and do I have to go
one particular way only ? As you see there is no center nut...

Yes, I know Brad very well. I live just down the road from him,
The stuff in the Jacobs boxes is for hooking up the Jake brakes. Dash switch, brake and clutch switch, throttle switch. If using jakes with Allison trans, a solenoid valve has to be added to keep the torque converter locked up when they are activated. I would not worry about turning the engine, you will have it running soon. I assume you are running an Allison trans? Does the engine not have the correct flywheel housing on it?

I came here to see if ya'll have an awnser for me on this;

You may have to add the throttle switch to the new engine, it may or may not already be installed. It turns the jake on when you lift your foot off the throttle. It is polarity sensitive, hooking it up backwards will blow up the diode.
It has been many years since I have worked on one of these old Cummins, I have forgotten a bunch about them.
Lately it has been N14's M11's and ISM, they are old now.
I may see Brad this weekend, I usually see or hear from him once a week. We go on crazy adventures together, he has helped me many times with my LMTV.

Thanx Mike... I think it is already on the new engine... I will photo it
and verify. Mike can you name all these sensors? The new engine
has just one (the center one ) on the drivers side...

Mike, BE SURE to tell Brad Milne you and I have conversed...
I am SURE he will tell you about our run from Los Angeles
to the PNW, he in my 5ton loaded w/ 10000 pounds in the bed
AND pulling a 8 wheel trailer w/ a 20' shipping container on it
and me in the 20 ton hauilng the same. OMG! Brad would get
SO PISSED off at me, we would hit a grade and I would do like
40 and he would drop to 20-25 and he HATED THAT LOL!
He will tell you all about it! HA!

Brad is not one for driving slow, I won't ride with him in anything.
He picked up my 5ton for me years ago at Ft lewis.
First thing he said was THEY GO FAST! ha!
I am not sure if you see my name or not but tell Brad
you have been conversing w/ Brad the plumber in SO Calif...

Mike this is the throttle posistion switch I believe yes?
It looks like I need to adjust the screw stop so when throttle
is closed it "just" triggers that little micro swich yes?
