Ignition tumbler will not come out

Hey guys, my tumbler finally got stuck and I couldn't turn the truck off with the key so I am in the middle of replacing it. I'm all the way down to removing the tumbler itself but there is no screw holding it into the steering column, the hole is just empty but the tumbler still won't come out. Am I missing something here? I don't see what I can push or remove to make the tumbler come out.

Well it turns out that apparently my steering column was swapped out with an earlier one at some point because I able to depress the retainer in the narrow vertical slot right to the lower left of the turn signal assembly mounting bracket. The tumbler say 73 Y2 on it so I'm guessing this column is out of a 1973.

Is it like a VW whereas a screw as driven in then sheared iof with blunt force and the remainder of scew was removed? Is there a hole in the side someplace?

I initially thought that maybe the retaining screw was sheared off but it turns out it was just the old style tumbler from the 70s pickups. So someone swapped in a new column at some point

A steering column out of a 70's GM truck will not fit in the CUCV and be operational. 1984 was the first year for the smart column that had the multifunction turn signal, wipers and hi beam switch combined. be fore that the wiper switch was on the dash and the dimmer switch on the floor. And the 73Y2 is the CUCV Key Code that was used throughout the entire run from late 1983 till final production in early 1987. I hope that helps. I seen them with no screw and with lock screw. Interesting, thanks for the info. I went to the parts store and ended up using a tumbler from a 73 truck so they must have all used the same style tumbler or else I just got lucky.

How come you switched it out?
