M416 (I believe) trailer questions

My father bought this trailer way back from a coast guard base on cape cod. Not exactly sure what model number it is but I believe it is a M416. Anyhow it’s in desperate need of some love now. Just curious if anyone knows where to get parts for these trailers. Right now I am looking for a new set of leaf springs. Once my father got it from the Coast Guard, he painted it red.

Nice find.......Yup, it's an M416 trailer, looks like "someone" cut a tailgate into the aft section; but at least they left the lunette, landing leg and parking brake handle as issued. The only place I've seen parts are E-Bay and there is a surplus parts group on Facebook.....I know there are much better educated guys on here that know other sources for parts, but I bet they are getting rare as hens teeth since these haven't been made for many moons now.

Interesting... yes, my father had the local welding shop make a functional tailgate for it wayyyy back when he picked it up. Other than that everything is as it was on the USCG Base.

I used to have 2 of them, sold one to a guy that beat it to death, the other one I also had a guy cut out the rear and installed a "Jeep" tailgate to match up with my Scrambler that I pull it with......blasphemy I know to desecrate the military aspects of it.....but it was before I got into green trucks and really needed the tailgate to make it more useful for hauling rocks and "stuff". Wish I had a hundred of them, everyone is always asking where they can get one of their own.

There are several military restoration places on the web that have NOS parts for those things as well as reproduction parts that cross over to the jeeps that pulled them. I have rebuilt several of these and if you search a little, you can find the parts to finish it off. If you have specific needs let me know as I have a small stash of extra M416 parts.
