My generator over voltage light kept coming on once in a while . Turned it on yesterday and voltage potentiometer started sparking and smoking.

I am having the same problem can some explain or show me where the instructions on how to set the mechanical limit. I cant figure it out. ThanksI'm sorry what does adjusted outside the stops mean.

Thank you for all your help. I guess I can just change the POT and make sure I dont turn it to the max or min.There are 2 different AC volt regulation systems for the 804A. Are you aware of that? You can NOT mix parts between them.
You can not "adjust" the mechanical limit. They come preset. You exceed them simply using enough force to more or less break the R1.
