Canadian 5/4's hanging out

Greetings! I drove a 5/4 for many years in an MRT format out of St. Hubert`s 51 Svc Bn. Would be nice to find one and restore.
That's very cool to hear that you drove one back in the day. I've been wanting to find one for a while but I figured cloning one would be my best bet (since those trucks are very rare) I have a 76 Chevy k20 (civilian model) truck sitting outside. That's setup to be very simaller to the Canadian 5/4. But I need the 76 doors and front clip (my truck was converted to look like a 80s truck by my dad) and I'd like to try to get ahold of a cucv brush guard to put on it.

Any door numbers I could use? (Like 89c,19c,880,ect) there's a junkyard close to me that has a ton of parts for those trucks I might be able to dig around and find all the parts I need. I also found out the blackout lights are the same ones used on the Jeep in the u.s

Canadian brush guard was a factory part - camper special option I was told but not likely to find any NOS ones anytime soon. There’s a few around for the round-eye era chevy’s though as a guy on Instagram and YouTube by the handle of @bornforadventure had a couple turn up from time to time. Might have one still! He’s up in Oregon. I have all the manuals so if something specific comes up I can scan them with my phone - like paint scheme. Paint is 3 colour and available from Gillespie. I’ll have to ask my buddy about the codes that match closest to the khaki, slipped my mind. Also be a good idea to join Maple Leaf Up forum for Canadian specific info. For example: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21547

Thank you man. I've been busy here lately so I haven't had much time to get on the forums so sorry for the late reply. I'll look into that site. Every time one of those old Canadian 5/4 tons pop up on Kijiji I try to download the photos. Just go keep as a reference when I go to build a clone

Hi Scott, sorry I don`t have any door number for you to use. They were very specific for each vehicle in the unit. If my memory is correct they were used to designate placement in convoys and ID`ing each truck and crew.

Well thank you for the reply. I figured I'd just make up some random number if I had to. I've heard of "89c" so I'm thinking a little more along the lines of "85f" if it isn't already used on one of the originals or someone's clone

It was pretty battalion specific.
I’ve seen K’s on field kitchen units, 2PPCLI had Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie units. Artillery here used Golf and Foxtrot I think. Who will know, Google images and you’ll see some examples. If you search MLVW you’ll see a bunch also. Some just had numbers, others added a letter unit designation. Really can’t go wrong. Pick one that makes you happy my man !

In the military no one is supposed to know where anybody or anything is just by fuselage of bumper numbers. It cost an out and out fortune....................
But You don't want them to know.

Thanks for the info man. I'll keep this in mind when I start to build the clone. I'm on the search for a cheaper set of 76 chevy truck fenders and 76 doors

Hey quick update. I picked up some bucket seats for a jeep. They were sitting in a older gentlemans barn. I pointed them out to him and told him I was wanting to clone a military truck. He gave them to me for free. They do need some cleaning but they are really close to the military truck seats. I should be starting a thread about it here in a few minutes. Mind if I include a couple photos of your truck?

Looking for anyone that has physical or electronic manuals for a Canadian 5/4 ton.

Greatly appreciate any help finding

Sorry if the paint job offends anyone ...DID NOT DO IT !!
Hey I remember seeing that on Kijiji. Sorry I don't have a electronic manual for your particular truck. But I imagine some people on here might have what your looking for. Good luck on your search!
