So she will dead crank, and when you turn the key to crank it activates what I think is the IP prime solenoid but it won't crank from the control panel. I put 8 gallons of diesel in, gauge shows over full which it is not yet the NO FUEL led is lit. Does that no fuel led disable cranking?

Few things here.

1. You did reset the fault? Don't laugh, seen it more often then I like to admit.
2. Pull out the MT5, (fuel level sender) see if the float is there, See if it moves. Test it IAW the TM.
3. What is the condition of your fuel tank. Take a look inside.
4. Check the connections between the MT5 and the control cube.

What is a " IP prime solenoid" to you? Or better said, what solenoid are you talking about. Take a picture if you don't know. Most components have a marking near it to tell you what they are.

Ok, so sender connected, gauge overfull. Sender disconnected, empty. Both conditions, led says no fuel and clearing lamps does not allow cranking.

Ok, Roger that. Help me understand, I always thought a float and sending unit were the same thing (automotive as reference).

float= discreet signal (1 or 0, voltage or no voltage) sending unit= analog signal (variable resistance t0 swing the gauge

Ohhhh!!! Ok got it. So likely the ending unit is toast. I will pull it and have a look
So the 802/803 have two different units. One is just for the fuel gauge, the other has two functions. The upper float is on/off for the aux fuel pump to suck from external tank, and the lower float is on/off for the "low fuel" light and shudown function. From what I'm tracking from Guyfang's post, the 806 has a similar unit. Hope this helps

Assume nothing. Test first. Its easy. Its in the TM. It takes just a few seconds to test. It will help you to no end, to have a second pair of hands to check the switch. The sending unit. Look at the wiper arm. Look at the coil. I assume, always a bad thing to do, but assume, that you hooked the sending unit back up to the wire and moved it op and down to test it. But did you ground it?

ALL gen sets function this way. No, not the old small sets. But some of them. anything made in the last 30-40 years functions just like the new set.
