Welcome to the May 2021 MV of the Month Nomination Thread!

To submit a nomination the rules are :

1. - You may nominate your own vehicle or another SS Members vehicle (please get the member's permission first). Do not nominate vehicles not owned by an SS Member.

2. - ONE good photo must be submitted with your nomination. PLEASE POST ONLY ONE PICTURE AND NOT A LINK!!!

3. - Previous winning vehicles from the current year cannot be re-nominated.

4. - One vehicle nomination per member per month unless you nominate another member's vehicle...not your own. You can ONLY nominate ONE of your own. (It's to keep things fair).

5. - We ask for 10 vehicles per month for the contest. Once we get 10 vehicles nominated OR at 20:00hrs (8PM) on 15 May 2021, (whichever comes first), the nomination thread will close and the "Vote Thread" will open as soon as The Boss can open it. All times listed are Eastern Standard Times.

6. - Please do not "campaign" for your favorite MV on THIS thread...wait for the "Vote Thread" then have at it!!

Now come on folks, let's see those beautiful MV's you have so we can all enjoy them.

1989 Bobbed 5 ton - While my Juhnay isn't as pretty as some of the other vehicles - we just drove over 180 miles (one way to go camping) at 60mph down the highway turning heads everywhere. It's awesome to look over at a Semi Truck and you are a little higher up than the driver. She's a magnificent beast. Only thing that broke on the trip was the fuel gauge, but it's easy enough to peak into the fuel tank LOL. In this photo she is pulling a 9000# - 40' long shipping container up our hill of a driveway, flat on the ground because the delivery guy couldn't pull it up the driveway (even with it on a trailer) with his Dodge 3500 dually truck, she didn't even know it was behind her LOL.

I have been pondering that rule. We often have a lack of campaigning. So what about changing the rule a bit.

1.- Open the "vote" thread at the same time as the nomination thread, but block the voting option until the 15th of the month.

2.- Make a mock-up first post for patracy to insert the contestants when they arrive, or do it all on the 15th.

2.- change rule 6 into :

Definitely do not "campaign" for your favorite MV on THIS thread, but start campaigning for your entry in the "Vote Thread" immediately!!

3.- make the words "Vote Thread" into a link to the new vote thread for this month.

A bit more work for both of you, but I think we will get positive response from it, and more campaigning.

I think some of the contestants decide to throw in their MV to help fill out the list (I did one or twice), but then more or less forget about it or have different priorities. With the vote and campaigning thread open already, contestants can select the best pic for the nomination, and add some of the other pics of their MV to the vote thread at the same time. It would probably work, since they are online and active with it anyway already.

Make sense????

Actually, I'm just the bottle washer here....not the cook. That means I don't have a clue how to do any of what you recommended above.

I don't have a problem with any of it, but it will take the boss to make any changes.

That kinda wouldn't be fair to the vote. Say someone pops up a nice M35A2 and you vote for them, then someone pops up a M37 that you really really love and wish you could change your vote. Also I'm not sure if I could even edit the poll after it's started. I know back in the past with vB that wasn't an option. That was due to me setting up these polls to show votes for transparency reasons.

So....we just leave things the way they are then. I vote for that.

Also, since this is the nomination thread I'm going to leave all the post here for a few days and then remove all but nomination type posts. This is not meant to be negative in any way, it's just to keep things on track. :derailed:

Misunderstanding, patracy, the pol should definitely stay closed until after the nomination closes, s o no voting before the 15th of the month, if possible.

PB, I agree this should not be here, but was worried those involved would not read it. When you think it is enough please do not delete it but move it to website improvements, so we can continue there and later readers know its already discussed
