Hi all, any updates on Memorial Day weekend plan and also, does anyone show their vehicles at local car shows?
Update follows:

A group of folks with military vehicles in N. VA area are attending the Sharpsburg MD Memorial Day parade on 29 May. The group is registered with the parade (have to be registered to participate).

Some may convoy up from the Leesburg/Purcerville VA area. I do not yet have the specific link-up time for a convoy to Sharpsburg yet if anyone is interested in doing so.

The staging location for the parade is the Sharpsburg Elementary School parking lot, with a staging time of 1230 on 29 May. Parade will last an hour plus. Following parade events some of us are planning on convoying through the driving tour of the Antiem Battlefield (30-60 min).

If anyone wants to attend with the group let me know and we'll integrate you into the group's registration. PM me with your email (or email me if we are already in contact) and we'll get you in and coordinate the event via email.

The Leesburg Memorial Day event is back on at the Loudoun County Courthouse in Leesburg VA, on 21 May at 1000. In the past there have been static displays of military vehicles outside the courthouse grounds on N. King St.
The vehicle display is not confirmed yet - but I will post info if it is a go.
Is anyone interested in participating in that Memorial Day display?

Antietam once had an anuual Autumn battelfield driving tour (evening event):

- It featured a paper-bagged candle (in the fields) for each casualty (U.S. and Rebelllion) of the engagement

It was a worthwhile undertaking (sobering) if one ever had the time. If it's still on-going (post-Covid and all), it comes highly recommended.

That sounds like a great event - I would definitely like to attend that. I'll keep my eye out for it.
Thanks.

There is also the VA Rally set over Labor Day weekend, held at the Graves Mountain Resort in Syria, VA (north of Charlottesville).
Since Mike has mentioned them, I'll post the link to the thread with this year's information...
It would be great to see a bunch of you at the farm this fall (and during the work weekends...).

For those of you have have recently acquired their first MV and/or who have just joined this site, welcome!

It is a 440 mile one way trip for me to attend, and less than a fourth of that for you NOVA folks, so come on out and enjoy the company of your fellow MV enthusiasts, ride some off-road trails, and eat some of the best BBQ in the south!

Folks,

For those in the Northern VA area that are interested, a group of us from the area will conduct a military vehicle convoy/trailride on Sat 26 June 21. It is an informal event consisting of several local military vehicles (primarily jeeps, but maybe some others). Currently @6-7 vehicles are participating. New drivers are always welcome to attend.

The convoy/ride is approximately 55 miles in length. It will start and end at the VFW in Leesburg, VA. The route will head south on the western side of Rt 15, and then head back north on the eastern side. The route is a combination of gravel/dirt and hardball roads. There will be a pitstop near the half-way point.

Link-up time is 1000 at the VFW (401 Old Waterford Rd NW, Leesburg, VA). SP will be shortly after link-up. Duration is expected to be @2.5 hours. Weather for the AM is forecast to remain clear at this time.

If anyone is interested in attending, or needs more information, please let me know via message and/or reply and I can confirm details with you and we can plan accordingly.

Thanks,
Paladin 6
