Deuce and a half Injection pump

Pick up a Duece and a half last year and it would not start . Just got around to mess with it. I read to make sure that the shutdown lever wasn't stuck. Check it out and it was stuck pretty good so I got it freed up. It started and ran for a few minutes but only was getting fuel at two cylinders. It quit and now don't get fuel on any. Anyone know where to go next. It was sitting for a few years before I bought it. Thanks

First thing I would check is to make sure you are getting fuel at the injectors. If not then look at replacing the primary and secondary filters then check the fuel at the injectors again.

It has fuel at the pump it had fuel at 3 and 6 when it was running but now don't seem to have fuel at any now.

Get yourself a REALLY bright flashlight and look down in the fuel tank. It has been sitting for about a year? It may be that you have an algae farm growing in your tank. Then you went to start it up and slurped that nasty goo up into the fuel system... There really isn't anything good to dissolve it. Might be worth getting a clean drain pan (maybe walmart for a 48 quart tote) big enough to capture the fuel as you drain the tank. If it comes out clean and clear, shine your light in the tank and see if the pickup tube and screen are clear and clean.

Unscrew the plate that holds the pickup tube and make sure you have a clear tube with a few puffs of air. While the pickup tube is disconnected, follow the fuel lines forward. First piece of rubber - disconnect and blow the tank tube out and see if any slime flies out. Keep following the fuel path. There are two. One to the Injector Pump (IP), the other is a return line to the tank. Check both as you go. HOPEFULLY none of the slime made it to your IP.

You might also look at maybe even change the fuel filter.

Pipe cleaners come in 36 inch lengths. Craft stores are a good source for those. One by one, remove and clean the steel lines from the IP to the Injectors with the pipe cleaner. ALL on the assumption that you have green or brown slime growing in the tank.

I would check the tank for contamination. Check/change fuel filters. Then check to make sure the IP is getting fuel. If so, I'd pull the injectors and see if they are working. It may be possible the injectors could have contaminants inside and be clogged or if water was in the system, could be rust or the slime stuff if it's present in the tank. I'm betting it's either clogged fuel lines or clogged injectors if certain cylinders are getting fuel and the IP is working as it should.

Some good thoughts but I like to keep things simple. Filters is what is most recommended first and injectors last. Then there is a horde of other things we can check after filters and before injectors. My thought is injectors last just incase we damage one of the injector ends we will need a new line. Plus if the problem was somewhere else we damaged the injector line for nothing. Just call.

Well once again getting ahead of our self could be something as simple as said that rubber hose on the in tank. As for filters yea they are more of a performance thing. All the Deuce head needs is just a little flow and very little pressure to just start / idle. If he does call we will start with flow from in tank to the Head.

Thanks for the info, it was nice to actually talk to someone instead of having to type it out.
