I built a “swing set” style game pole at the ranch with 10’ long schedule 40 - 2 3/8” legs with a 10’ long 4” sch 40 top. 9’ wide on inside, so you can drive a truck through it.

It’s great, it can pick up almost anything you throw at it, within reason. We have put a lot of weight on it with no
concern. Im sure it would lift an 1101, no problem. We have had more weight than that on it, but the trailers are at the wrong ranch.

A Gantry is a wonderful tool. I had no idea how much I would use one until I built mine.

Yes, especially on hard surface with good wheels. My (former) shop had a 10 ton overhead crane. Man do I miss that.

I picked this gantry up from Ft Hood surplus recently. It is adjustable in height up to 12'. I plan to lay some steel channel as tracks for it, so it can be moved a bit as needed. I still want something with a crane, or one of those cool telelifter-type machines.

Cheers

PS - I know we digress from topic, but it's my thread, so it's okay. :)

Rory,

threads take on lives of their own and a gantry is often needed to unload a 1082.

There, I stitched the two together for us!

I also see it’s not uncommon to carry an 1101 in a 1082! There’s three of us so far with 1101’s in the beds of a 1082. Actually 4 if you count the fact that I did it twice.

Ft.hood mechanic here. Most of the lmtv trailers brakes will not release because the multifunction valve leaks. These are all reserve trailers that never get used though. I can post a NSN for it later if you want.

That would be great.
I recovered my 1082 last year, used it 2 more times and it aired up fine.
I tried to use it again last week and I couldn't get the brakes to release.
I noticed the secondary tank on my 925a2 would not really get over 30-40 psi once I opened the valves to air up the trailer.
Also noticed the push/pull air supply valve knob would not stay in
tried rocking in fwd/rvs a few times but couldnt get them to budge

I have the TM on my computer but I am not sure how to share or load here to the TM section. In a previous comment on this post it was stated that these trailers have CTIS. That is incorrect. They have CTIS valves on the wheels but are capped and only there so they may be interchanged with the LMTV/MTV trucks that have CTIS. The M1082 is considered a 2.5 ton trailer or LMTVT for the LMTV truck so an M35 really shouldn't have any trouble towing it with properly operating brakes. The M1095 is the dual axle 5 ton version MTVT. Both trailers use the same TM.

Was able to get a almost new 2011 M1082. Inside was a plastic wrapped 4 inch thick paper TM 9-2330-394-13&P which supersedes the PDF's (dated January 2005) circulating here in this thread. While searching google, I came across a paid download that had even a more recent model that was a Volume 2. But I never downloaded it. Curious if anyone has.
