1998 m1078 LMTV A0 just bought from government planet and it looks like they drained all the fluids heeeeeeeeelp.

So before I fired the next toy up I was checking all the fluids and it looks like everything except for the steering is empty:/
Glad I didn’t drive that down a steep driveway before I checked everything.
So Transmission oil
Fuel tank “oooouuuuuch$”
steering fluid
both front and rear diffs are tanked up now
but there’s a couple more things on the door that were written in sharpie that has long disappeared and I can only make out a partial shadow of it.


Something about mounts

Something about a filter removed

Looks like I can’t seem to think of anything else to check except for the hubs anybody else have any ideas?

What filter would they remove?

Thoughts , comments, any good jokes going around???

First step. Go to first page of this steel soldiers discussion board..... then to the TM forum. and get all the manuals for this truck. Being a 98, especially if it has the 3116 engine.... then this is what is considered an A0 truck.

Transmission @ overhaul: 39 quarts
Steering: 5 quarts hydro fluid or steering fluid Aw32 or extreme situation Aw46
Hydraulic reservoir winch/crane truck: 27 gal.- BEST OE/HDO-10, then SAE 10w oil, lastly Aw32
Hydraulic reservoir cab/tire lift : BEST Royco 756- then Aw32, lastly standard 10wt Hydraulic oil
Front diff 4x4 & 6x6: 9.5 quarts SAE 75w90 GL4
Rear diff 4x4: 18.05 quarts SAE 75w90
Rear diff 6x6: 9.5 quarts SAE 75w90
Intermediate axle 6x6 13.7 qts SAE 75w90
Front planetary hubs 4x4 & 6x6: 11-13 OZ SAE 75w90 GL4
Cooling system total: 43.8 quarts antifreeze (HD diesel truck that meets A-A-52624)
Cooling system w/ arctic kit: 58.3 quarts

btw: it's pretty common for transport to drain the fluids when they come in from some overseas locations. GP wouldn't likely be in that loop (more so the government).
