Good evening everyone, I’m having some trouble with my 1971 m35a2. I replaced the starter, and whenever I try hooking the alternator wire back up to the starter ( the one that goes into the wiring harness) and hook the batteries up it arks. And by arking I mean literally welding. But when I take it off and leave it off I can hook them up just fine. The picture added is the wire in question. It did this with the old starter as well

Mine did that and the fix ended up being the replacement of the starter button, which was stuck on. Hope yours is that easy.
