Hello all!
I figured I'd post a thread about building my own spare tire carrier that isn't made out of proverbial gold!
I really like the rhino carriers but not ever going to pay those prices when I can build my own.
I unfortunately didn't take many pics pre half way point, sorry about that didn't think.
I'm building it out of mostly 303 sst except for a few pre hard parts I turned.
This is a pic of the main mount/pivot point. I designed it to use the factory mounts as much as possible. I turned a captured rod out of 3/4" pre hard and welded into a piece of c channel I made.
The following is the opposite side that will capture the swing side, I haven't final installed it yet
I haven't finished the actual arm yet about 95%, I have to weld the wheel mount and clamp then paint.
The next pic is a test piece I designed in fusion to mount the wheel that I will cut on my plasma table.
