X DOORS

Has anyone ever heard of these people? Or live in Florida. They have two adds for sets of X doors on eBay, and I've also seen them list the same doors on Facebook. I always thought they were a scam because they don't have many reviews. Also, I'm way too far away from them to go and see the doors before handing over the cash. Any thoughts are appreciated.

They look fixable but will definitely take some work to get them in order. You may have to replace some or all of the glass due to laminate separation. Unfortunately the price is about right for the market right now.

Thanks for the input. I talked to Adam at sales for western Kentucky Surplus and he has new doors for around $4000 + shipping. Does anyone have experience with these repop WKS?

West Kentucky Surplus Doors are the best. Easy to work with also. Had one damaged door and they had replacement shipped next day!

I can 2nd Mattguy's experience. I bought 2 sets of doors from West Kentucky Surplus(on Mattguy's recommendation of quality). The quality is very good, and the 2 small issues I had(both latch related), Adam took care of quickly. I went with the 5/8 ballistic glass option and the outer armor. They are not the cheapest, but as best as I can tell, they are the closest to the original. Mattguy is definitely ahead of me on installation as I have installed them on the M1114 and am still installing on the M!151(2 left to go), but haven't painted or finished with the sealing surfaces yet. I might try to wrap up hanging the other 2 this weekend when I return from overseas.

Additionally, for those who didn't know WKS also does armor. I bought a steel armored top for the M1114 in addition to side armor for that one and the M1151. They have ballistic door glass and windshields also. I don't think they advertise any of that stuff, but if you call, they'll take care of you. Initially I spoke with Brandon(I think he might be the owner), and he was the nicest, most information sharing person I have dealt with in a long time. He literally didn't try to sell me not a single thing, he just gave me some options. I talked myself into re-armoring both of the HMMWV's then spoke with Adam to get everything in order. Good group of guys over there, for sure.

The only thing I wish was done was the pre mounting of the hinges, but I understand why they don't. Every HMMWV isn't exactly the same body wise. Just make sure you get some good big C clamps with rubber pads and align and align again!

You ain't lying! Just between my 2 humvees there was a noticeable difference.

I think I had 4 of the big clamps and tons of painters tape to do each one. I will say that after the first 2, the other 2 went quickly. Additionally, on my m1114 I had to add rivnuts for all of hinges. The m1151 already had everything in place. That, and by the time I started on the 1151 I had already installed 4 doors and sort of had the system down.

One option on doors that we are pursuing are the tactical half x doors made by Federal Military in Cannon Falls, MN. I looked at the fiberglass doors from West kentucky and the price plus strikers, hinges, etc. and it was an affordable option to OE X doors, but still sticker shock. So, I went with the lower half doors for $2,800 shipped to GA and it will give us X doors for this summer and then I can get the upper halves and windows and ease my way into this Humvee. Had soft top four door and picked up slant back off Gov Planet, but no doors, so needed something other than soft doors and these are an option for us.

I’ve dealt with 3 sets of the west Kentucky doors, they’re pretty much an exact copy of the original x doors with the same design shortcomings lol

They’re pretty easy to install however and adjustments are quick.
That being said, I still haven’t found better ones. Plan B Trucks has their signature series doors that are made of aluminum with original style windows (not the sliding camper windows). They’re $5k for the set, not sure of the quality.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm going to go with Kentucky. Their sales guy Adam was very helpful with my last order.

Has anyone mounted the WKS X-Doors to a HMMWV with a Helmet Hardtop? I believe I heard a rumor that the x-doors don't fit the door profile of the helmet hardtops? That may or may not be true...Just looking to see if anyone has mounted these with this setup.

I cannot answer the question about those x-doors on a helmet top as I am a newbie and the previous owner bought and installed what I have so I have no idea where they came from. But the x-doors installed, and the helmet top too are fiberglass. Kind of rough finish.

Yea, I got my doors from Adam at West Kentucky Surplus as well. He said they are stopping production of the RV camper window aluminum style, they are still on the website but listed "out of stock". It was a slight pain measuring and drilling out the holes and had to widen out the holes in a few backing plates, but everything looks good now.

Thanks. Just ordered mine from WKS Thursday. Looking forward to finishing this build!

Has anyone mounted the WKS X-Doors to a HMMWV with a Helmet Hardtop?
I am also interested to know.
Little late, but I just got X doors from WKS, and I have a helmet top from Amtec (now McClarin). Did a dry fit when they came and they fit very well. And my top was made a little crooked.

Edit: I feel I should edit this reply. It should be noted that the clearances of the doors are pretty tight in places, and you may have to readjust the position of your helmet top for the doors to close properly. In one case a back door has approximately 1/4" gap at the front top of the rear driver's side door, but the door doesn't close properly and the rear top needs to be raised at least 1/16th" to allow minimum clearance.
