Can Wrangler MT be changed without disassembling 2 piece wheel?

I’m getting ready to change a couple tires on my hmmwv. It has stock 12 bolt wheels and Wrangler MT tires. I have a Coats 60x tire changer and would prefer to dismount and mount these tires with the machine and a lever like you would on any other car or truck. Do these two piece wheels act like a bead lock and need to be separated to get the tire on and off?

No, there is a bead lock/run flat in the tire, you cannot change it with a machine, you MUST split the rim.
Even if the run flat/bead lock was removed there is no "drop center" to allow the tire to be removed, no way around splitting the rim.

Awesome, thank you! Better to figure that out now than halfway through it. I watched the video from Feltz tire where they show the process. Do you know if it’s okay to re use the big o ring between the halves?

It is best to replace it, if it looks OK (still round and not flattened) you can sometimes get away with it.
ONLY use the o rings from folks like Kascar, HPG, AMG, they will be red, all the ones I have seen or tried from others are orange and are total crap and do not fit

I reuse my orings unless they are obviously damaged. I even cut a small portion from one that was too large and used silicon sealer where the two ends joined and it is still holding air just fine for 3 years now. I also removed the run flats.

They are wheels and tires, not rocket science.

Good luck. You will find this easy once you do it a few times.

I did the same thing with the eBay O rings that were too long, 2 out of the 8 had slow leaks, I have never had new red O rings leak.

I stand here as a man who has now changed a hmmwv run flat tire. Exhausted haha.

two or three things of note:

- The cherry picker method worked awesome. Pulled everything apart no problem. See this video for reference

- Feltz ratchet strap method worked fine for the run flat. Ratchet it as tight as you can, then ratchet it about five more times. Constantly check both sides for lips and edges hanging up. I found myself fighting and prying several times only to flip it over and find something easy was hung up.

- Finally, regarding the O rings: Mine was in sub par condition and not a plump round o ring. I washed it with soap and warm water, then massaged it with dielectric grease. It sealed perfectly fine with 60 psi. I did the soapy water test and it was good. If you do decide to chance it reusing the o ring, it’s not that hard to get back in that far. In an ideal world it should be changed, but sometimes good enough is okay too.

I switched my truck to 17" civilian GT Cepek rims, and it was then with great pleasure that I surplused the run flat compressor that came in the 57K2067 tool kit.

I had a hard time identifying/finding the correct o-rings as there are several for the different style wheels. There is a post here somewhere with the specs/mcmaster carr partnumber of the bulk o-ring material. I bought that and made my own for cheap. Just took a carefull, straight cut and some super-glue. 4 years latter no leaks. I wasn't at all confident it would be successful at the time, but now I would do again.

If your “o rings” look good just use some seale. Only had to change 1
”o ring”, a friend did not line it up on his assembly and would not hold air
after an hour.
