MK23 Horn button issues

Hello all. Im working on a 5/01 MK23 and need to tear into the horn button. It honks randomly when driving, I assume its wore out. My question, before I tear this apart is if the steering column is shared with any normal truck. I hate to assume its not a special military spec. Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. We are having the same issue with our 2002 mk23 Horn. We really didn’t have any problems till I disassembled to get to the turn signal switch. Then after reassembling, the horn randomly starts honking. If you found any solutions would very much appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you, Brian.

In almost any older truck, this means the wire running down the steering column is worn through and touching ground.
