I got my horn fixed tonight it was either the horn button the rusty nut or the bad looking wire. My wife is really good at putting on those packard plugs. Here’s a question where does the wire that goes down the steering shaft come out at? I looked through the TM it shows the steering shaft but no horn wire. And the horn diagram shows the wheel parts and the box on the shaft but no long wire. I’m thinking it’s PFM. But don’t matter it didn’t need replacing thank goodness lol.

I insured it thru Hagerty yesterday for $298.
Never used them before, phone call was uncomplicated and fairly quick, although I don't believe they're actually insuring the truck I think they're the middleman, just like when Progressive uses Artisans insurance .
Matters none to me .

Also I put a receiver style hitch on the rear a while back I don't know if Iever mentioned it, now the truck can tow any trailer I own with it having a fifth wheel, pintle and standard receiver .

I found a receiver that had been removed from I think a newer dodge pickup .
It was too wide to to go on to the outside of the frame rails on my truck, but the receiver was bolted together, so I unbolted it, configured it to how I wanted (flipped the bottom receiver hole around) and bolted and welded it back together .

I am going to add some lateral reinforcements but just haven't got back to it yet .

Hi Valley Rock. Do you know what year Dodge truck it was off of? I want to do the same thing my old deuce hitch won’t fit because of the lights. I would buy the hitch if I knew which one. Just curious thanks

I do not, I tried to scratch the paint off a sticker on it, but all it said was "owning a modern dodge can be hazardous to your mental health"

It is a Torklift model, and I can tell you it took a fair amount of work to make it fit, alot of cutting, welding, reconfiguring and I'm still putting the lateral bracing on it, way more work than I thought, everything is jammed in a small space on these and in the way .

Removing the air lines to the meow defunct CTIS gave me moar uptravel

So I took the M818 out for a ride today after getting everything done. Went about .2 miles and the temp was at 240. Got her home. I have some ideas what might be wrong, I drained the coolant in Feb pulled out the dead mice in the coolant tank replaced thermostat and gasket all new fluid. I’m thinking maybe another mouse further down or just some gunk stuck somewhere. So I will flush it and see what comes out fingers crossed.

My Battery Switch is getting a little wonky, difficult to engage and cut out on me while on the road. I recently replaced my starter switch with a key ignition. Big Mike describes the starter switch as
"ON-OFF-MOMENTARY SWITCH USED FOR THE IGNITION AND START IN 5 TON TRUCKS AND M998 HMMWV VEHICLES. CAN BE USED FOR MANY OTHER PURPOSES IF NEEDED.
RATED FOR 30V DC, THE 2ND POSITION IS 20 AMPS MAX CONTINUOUS, AND THE THIRD POSITION IS 20 AMPS WITH 75 AMP INDUCTIVE LOAD SURGE FOR THE TRUCKS STARTING CIRCUIT."

Can I use this as a battery switch?

Do I have to remove the light switch to access the ON/OFF switch? I can barely see the switch from below never mind getting one of my mitts on it, it's time's like this that I regret not having grandkids or for that matter kids...
Also deleted a bees nest from the engine bay, now the rig smells like cedar.

It's not that hard to get to. It is easier if you remove the light switch though. You can take a flat head screw driver to remove the lever, then a pair of pliers to remover the nut that holds it on. If you are replacing the switch you have to plug the 3 wires in the same as the old switch.

My Dilemma. Due to the base width of the jack stand I can't get either Jack or stand under the leaf bracket.
I had larger wheels in mind when I purchased the Sunnex jack stands. The smaller 10 ton model only has a max extension of 17 inches.

Will the pictured arrangement work? Suggestions?
Good news is the lugs spun right off.

I just stick a piece of wood in between the bottle jack and the axle housing and lift it up, you only got to go an inch or two to get the wheel off, assuming you're just trying to remove the wheel
