I did ignition, though as I am cleaning up the cab interior and adding another fuse block for power doors and windows on the driver's footkick, Bluefire will be constant, too—

Just returned home after a 120 round trip to Caterpillar where they programmed the ECM Speedometer parameters. Here in Florida driving long flat straight roads with no wind adjusting the cruise control speed every ten miles or so and watching the Bluefire instant fuel consumption. It looks like the sweet spot is 6th gear 50 mph at 1300 rpm. It was averaging 9mpg. When set at 57 and 1500rpm it was averaging 8mpg.
My fuel tank is too large to do a fill and a short trip and fill again. I have to fill and drive 1,000 miles or so and fill again. I’ll keep updating.
Seriously wish I had the Bluefire for the last 24,000 miles on the 3.07 gears I could have been collecting all kinds of data.

Your Average Fuel Economy for the life of the truck is 7.5mpg!?

Not sure how accurate that 7.5 average mpg is. It was there when I first plugged the blue fire up. Not sure if that’s over the life of the ECM or what. It hasn’t changed and I can’t figure out how to reset it.

When I look at our ECM using Dearborn or CAT ET software our's shows how much fuel used and mileage all time. So, in Bluefire our Average Fuel Economy is only 4.6mpg. I don't wish the reset the lifetime numbers, though not entirely useful.
In Bluefire I have tried using the trip distance, average mpg and such, though I have yet to figure out the right configuration. If we could use that, especially if we could set up two trips. One from today forward and one as a current trip that would be helpful.

Thanks, Still working on the cluster colors. The green numbers have been changed to white and enlarged. About 5 hours into programming also changed engine torque to barometric pressure.

Will the BlueFire work on a 1998 M1079 A0? I am using a GPS speedometer. Will bluefire still work or do I have to put the original speedometer back in?

The A0 has no data bus to tap into for information… the only two electronic boxes onboard are the TCU and the CTIS and they are not wired together. Only a maintenance connector for the trans controller…
