First shakedown and I have a question about the fan clutch

I took my M1152A1 out for the day on it's first shake to see how things are running. The truck drove well and ran really good and strong. One of the things that I noticed was how much the fan was cycling. It was a relatively cool day (upper 60s) and doing highway speeds and the fan cycled on a few times. Is this normal? The temp gauge was in the middle of the green (one of the colored gauges). No signs of overheating and everything else seemed normal. I would have thought the ram air would suffice to keep everything cool and not need the fan.

Another unrelated thing was towards the evening it stared to rain. Didn't realizes how much they leak😲

Yep. You need a raincoat inside the truck if it is raining.
Other than that, spot a leak, fix a leak - rinse, lather, and repeat...

And ram air isn't really gonna do it.

What you describe about your fan cycling is no different than mine. As the gauge needle approaches 12-o-clock the fan kicks on, and runs for about the same time as it takes to regain control after the adrenaline dump it caused.

Mine (soft top and doors) leaks during the rain, but nothing in the forward cab area, all in the back and mostly when it's static. So the back seats get moist, the fronts are dry. I am noticing a slight leak in the windshield seal that will cause a small drip down the inside of the glass during very hard rain, but I suspect it'll be an easy fix with a new seal.

its been many years but I still recall a certain magazine article that talk about english cars sold in canada or north america (I forgot which two it was) and one particular car was 'badmouthed' with the like of "even if the vents are closed, as soon as it rains it will leak water down your legs always" .. ouch!

and if thats not all the hillman was specifically mentioned too, why? well.."it seriously lacks any hill power, you have to go uphill in first gear" ummm uhh yeah don't look at me I don't even know what to make of that either

anyway yeah sorry..soo non-military offtopic this is but yeah if you thought that water on your head was bad then you would like gushing onto your legs (socks-in-shoes and all) a lot less especially in more sensitive downtown clothings (versus hardy soldier uniforms) i'm sure

After some thought the fan is controlled by the engine block temp and not the radiator temp. Like a small block Chevy the hot air blowing though the rad is controlling the fan clutch and not the engine block temp. It would be interesting to see if the 300,000 SN trucks have any issue with ram air with the gear fan drive and thermal clutch.

What if someone wanted to put a standard fan clutch on like I have linked below. Is there a good choice for a fan that would fit? Or is there somewhere that list the fan sizes like off a Chevy pickup? This would sure make it way nicer to drive...
