Hey guys, thought you might get a kick out of this. I got a message out of the blue from some Australians asking if I could get them a humvee and armor it to try and survive shots from their bowling ball canon. I had about 3 weeks to do it and a very limited budget...how could I say no??

Their youtube channel is https://youtube.com/@howridiculous?si=7nsDerL4lX1BAo80

Our channel is

Here's the story:

Let me know your thoughts. Results will be in the next video in about 2 weeks.

Here's a pic that shows a lot of the inner structure. Not all, but most before applying the 3/8" skin.
While I can appreciate the effort you put in this it has no relevance to an up armored HMMWV at all.
Just another guy making money doing "sensational" videos on YouTube, one of the big things wrong with YouTube, it's all just BS and scam artists:rolleyes:

I don't make money on YouTube. It would be nice if that was a thing, but I'm far from it. Maybe some day.

I did get hired to armor a hmmwv for a successful youtube channel. They were not trying to obtain an up armored hmmwv and definitely did not have the budget for one. This was simply my armor design to protect against a known large diameter projectile.

As a hmmwv enthusiast the last thing I wanted to be a part of was destroying a perfectly good hmmwv, and especially not something rare and hard to obtain in the civilian market. This humvee was destined to rot away. The video doesn't show how terrible the condition was. No steering box, no tcase, no differentials, no brakes, missing 1 portal box, most of the wiring gone or damaged, no fuel tank, no glow plugs, no air intake, etc etc. I think it was cool to actually turn this hmmwv into something.

In the end just having fun and hoping provide entertainment for others.

I sure don't appreciate being called just another guy involved in BS and a scam artist. Especially by a forum moderator.

I have been on this forum for years providing various technical advice and trying to help others.

And this belongs in the modification HMMWV section not this one.
My $0.02

This belongs in the Mess Hall or Conversations or Munitions

I hate seeing senseless wanton destruction of HMMWV’s.

My 2 cents.

I used to regularly attend and participate the local semi-annual machine gun shoot. Only Knob Creek is better.

They usually have multiple class three vendors shoot all kinds of post 86 samples. One of the vendor spends $75k in ammo with his mini gun. They usually have a few junk cars or trucks as targets.

Good times!

Never saw a bowling ball cannon there though! Could be cool!
