I did a quick search for 'sh405' and it doesn't seem to have ever been mentioned on this forum so I decided to make this new post for now..

enjoy this one small photo if you want to see something a bit different aka taking an unimog and throw away everything to do with the factory body but to instead turn it into an armoured tank abit apparently with the top open?

thanks @Mogman it was night before (and after a bit of a long day) so yeah sorry about the initial title

and which of I don't mean to be something for asking this but I sort of wonder what kind of transmission type these might have, probably a more 'basic' something as I can't think that the cascading controls etc are even any use for that sort of that no-pto single-usage vehicle (especially if comparing to that "complex" transmission on eg the 406 etc like this shows https://classicunimogs.com/images/diag_shifter2.jpg )

[edit: and no, I'm not sure if I could had wanted a possible deuce and unimog at the same time, very most likely only the former would be on my wishlist]

I would assume it would have a standard 404 transmission it only has two sticks, the 6 speed and the 2W/4W/4Wlock shifter

The Irish Army operated those, I used to see them as a kid in Ireland in the 1970s.

They crewed them somewhat differently than the photo above!

Cheers

I would like to find a set of those wheels/tires, they are much wider than the stock 404 wheels, I run 1100-18 Gama Goat wheels and tires on mine.

I dont mean to seem pessimistic about this but I sure hope they added some additional power somewhere in this vehicle, the last thing a 404 needs is more weight to move around!

Specs say 90HP IIRC (and that is more doubtful by the decade) the original 2.2L had 86HP
I had one I put a 280S engine in and it moved pretty well, I would stick a Mighty Mite in the bed and tow a small pop up to the various Jeep jamborees, back in the day.
