MEP-804A Governor Not working correct

I have a MEP-804A that I recently posted about having issues with the VR. I replaced the regulator and all seemed fine. Now I have developed another issue. The machine will sit and purr like a kitten most of the time. I started it the other night and let it run for 3 hours and it ran perfect the voltage and HZ were are stable could be. I had been having issues with it speeding up and slowing down. I was trying to blame it on fuel, but this morning I started it and the HZ are all over the place. It will be sitting dead on 60 then drop to 52 and sit there. Sometimes it goes back up on its own sometimes not, occasionally when it goes up it goes too high and you get an overspeed alarm.

Now here is the odd part, when its starts this up and down on the HZ I can take a screwdriver handle and tap on the Blue Woodward Governor box and it will speed up and run as it should. Or while its running at a stable HZ I can tap on the box and it will slow down and become erratic. Hit it again and it will speed back up. I did go thru and check all of the connections to make sure none of them were loose or corroded. It still has the same issue. To me this is probably a cold solder joint or component on the board somewhere. Has anyone else ever seen this issue is there any option other than to replace the module?

Are the 2 Governors pictured below directly interchangeable? The blue Woodward is in the machine in question, I don't see a part number on it but from what I have read online its 8270-1002. The other governor pictured is in a donor machine. Its a GAC 88-22850-15. From what I have read the 2 are directly interchangeable, but I would like confirmation on that.

I have not done any of the troubleshooting procedure since the issue comes and goes with the tap of a screwdriver on the case. Please advise if you think anything other than replacement is an option.

Thank You

Kevin

Yes they are interchangeable.

Below are all the part numbers that work. There are more.

10502-001-0-24
8270-1002
8270-1002
88-21860
88-22850-15
88-22850-15
DYNA 10502-001-0-24
DYNA 10502-001-0-24
DYNA-10502-001-0-24
Do you see any other option for the issue I am having other than changing the Governor? I think that is the most logical.

You may want to seek out Kloppk (Kurt) because he is developing a new governor control to replace these and he may be able to fix your current controller.
