First MEP 802a missing parts

Hi group. Glad to post something happy today. I just brought home my first MEP 802a.

Looked through the auction photos as well as I could. There were only 8. Only 2 or so of the engine area. I thought it was complete. Got it home and began checking it over. Found what I would describe as the fuel shutoff solenoid missing. Looking through the machine I found what looked to be a brand new one. Great!! Looked some more and realized the new part only had bare wires, no connector. Then I noticed there was a rod or something like a rod missing that goes from the solenoid to the fuel shutoff. Going to start looking up parts unless someone here has the missing rod, screws, and electrical connector.

Checked all fluids. Oil looks new. Coolant was empty. Fuel was almost full. Hooked up new batteries, let it prime for a few min. It fired right up and made power!! I’m a happy camper!! Don’t think the temp gauge was working but it’s cold here and I did not run it very long. No leaks found during or after running it.

Share a photo of where the FSS should be, and what you have.

Here are some photos of the area missing parts. I found the part number but did not see the linkage/rod readily available. I was thinking if I could determine the correct length and find a threaded rod that fits the FSS and put a ball end and bolt/nut on there is there any reason that would not work? Then I just need to find the correct electrics plug for the FSS wiring.

Rather than trying to use a rod end I'd suggest looking at a correct machine, then replicating the original linkage which consists of a flat bar with a slot cut in it. This allows the solenoid to move further than the throttle lever needs because you will quickly burn out the solenoid if it is held in a position other than fully retracted, while under power.

Can you share the info on the label of that solenoid... to make sure it will even work with this machine (ie 24V). The OEM unit is preterminated with a connector, and has only 2 leads. The connector is not a big deal to work around, but if its the wrong voltage, lets determine that now.

Also can you share a photo of the end of the FSS that a threaded rod would go into? To make sure thats right as well.

Here are photos of the part numbers and threaded end. All the diagrams I have looked at makes it appear this is the correct part. I sure hope it is!!
