M1165A1W/B3 GMV Thread

With several ECV and REV versions of these M1165A1W/B3 GMVs on the market already, and more on the way, I am starting this thread to discuss service & restoration issues specific to them. Most, if not all, were USMC gun trucks, used, abused and demil'ed to remove all the armor (Frag-5 kits, etc) and weapons systems (Turret/gun mounts). Mine arrived with several issues (exhaust & diff seal leaks, bad start box & plugs, etc) but I am slowly piecing it back together.

Though the supplemental TM gives a good general overview of the accessories added onto this truck to make it useful for Special Ops, there are many intricacies that go into each component, and their inevitable issues. I will be posting questions and experiences working through mine and hopefully help others along the way.

Please post any knowledge and experiences you have on the M1165A1W/B3 and I look forward to working with you all to get these beauties back in operation.

Very pleased to see someone building these special trucks back to GMVs and not declaring them to be "parts trucks" or candidates for EV conversion and other stupidity. Army manual FM 3-05.214 has a some good GMV info, though it pre-dates the WB3's.
Good luck with your effort, I have been working to build a first gen 1025A2 based SF GMV back to issued condition for many years now. Not an inexpensive endeavor.

Yes I found some supplemental doors for now, until I can find the correct Frag armor.

For those wondering, the GMV’s Warn G2 electric winch controller plug is on the driver’s side of the winch itself. The controller called for in the TM for the GMV is:
NSN 6110-01-546-4413 (Part # 64837)

This cross-references to Warn PN’s
