Hi Everyone, and please forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere, but I can’t seem to find the answer in any searches. I’ve also looked through multiple different manuals, and also can’t find what I’m looking for. So I’m looking for some help please. I am located in Australia, and there doesn’t appear to be many other M923A1 trucks over here. I’m in the process of converting my truck to a motor home, and we are ready to remove the tray/body from the truck in preparation for the new motorhome body. Is there a procedure for this removal? Or documented instructions etc? Alternatively, is there a specific manual I should be downloading for this truck? I have downloaded and printed off 2 manuals so far, at a total of 1600 pages, but can’t locate this procedure. What manual is the most in depth and thorough manual for this truck? Thank you everyone, any assistance will be very much appreciated.

Hi Dean,

I am honestly not sure the TM's would have instructions on removing the bed from a 923 (or any of the 900 Series). The beds generally are part and parcel of the vehicle.

Where do you have to work on the truck? Do you have a lift (hoist) available? It is fairly straight forward if you do. Just disconnect the tail lighting, then unbolt the bed. Then with a lift it is fairly easy. If not, a bottle jack and blocks to hold it up will work. Drive out from under it WITH somebody WATCHING carefully. Then comes the exciting part: Letting it down to the ground.

Hey you're new around here and in a warm place. Welcome aboard and any chance you get to send warm pictures, it's always appreciated.

My nieces good friend, Amy, moved there from Canada a decade ago....say hi to her for me.

How much does that box weigh? We've done 'clean' removals and installations with 2 skidsteers. We've tried one......it's not possible.

The easiest 'removal' has been the slide off method. Hook it to a tree and slide it off.

The difference between the one I did and the one you're going to do is...........it's easier to show a picture.

If you tie it to a tree and drag it off........it's always fun to get video.

Thank you everyone, I absolutely love this page for the help and support provided. The truck is at a workshop and they were asking if there was a procedure for the removal, it does look pretty straightforward though. We will be removing it in the next few days, I’ll get some pics and post up the progress.
