i think that the fuel pump is bad. ran the generator last night for the first time in a couple of months. after a few minutes of running it turned off. i went through the section 5 - troubleshooting 2-11 in the technical manual, specifically "cranks but fails to start".

the fuel pump is the old square kind. purchased a new round one. when the S1 switch is in prime/run i can hear the pump making a high-pitched noise, not the usual clicking.

IS it possible that something other than the pump is bad? something i may have overlooked?

You can put a dvom on the connections for the fuel pump and see if any power is getting there. The old hit it with a hammer and see if the regular ticking noise returns is a good way too. I've found many problems with a light tap on things in the past.

yes it does receive power. if i rotate S1 on/off a little squirt of fuel comes out of the disconnected hard line on the pump

Here's a pretty good thread on finding a pump.

Even if whacking the pump gets it going again, do yourself a favor and get rid of that Facet Cube pump.... it's guaranteed to let you down at the least opportune moment!
I'm actually a bit surprised it quit on you during a periodic test..... usually they wait for the start of an extended power outage to crap out! ;)

The thread link above recommended two pump replacements. The original Facet 40193 pump broke and the Airtex E1074 found on newer models cannot be found, according to the thread provided above.

Airtex E8131 (renamed to Carter Inline Electric Fuel Pumps P74018)
Airtex External Electric Fuel Pumps E8135 renamed to Carter Inline Electric Fuel Pumps P74016

i purchased a clone off of amazon Airtex E8135

no idea what the gph or psi are of either of these two. the clone provided a list of parts the clone replaced

O'reilly: E16208 (their specs list this as 5.5 - 9 psi and 27 GPH)
Airtex: E8135
Carter: P74016
Gmb: 5991460
Napa: B0143e
Onix: Eh135
Spectra Premium: Sp8114, Sp1187

If you dig through that thread it does end up with the one you got. It is 5.5 to 9 psi at 35 gph. It is 24 volt too. At 62$ I think i'd look for a real airtex one.
