Just a note on tying the brakes together, I would recommend it. Any kinda of speed over 35 mph, and your stopping distance is forever without it. No need to modify the airpack, I just did that to make it easier. Just a 3/8(maybe 1/2) thread air nipple, and air hose to the glad hand will do it.

Thought I would edit this and add the link for the airpack mod. The link also covers how to hook up the brakes without the mod.

I was told by several people the glad hand hook-up on a duece would not work because of check-valves in the system. Works great on five tons but they were designed for it with a front glad hand hook-up and the Dueces were not. I fabricated a fitting for mine and it can be changed it 5 minutes, but I found out at the rally my truck has the newer airpac and is different than the older ones.

Thanks Stretch! I've read that thread a few times, but never noticed that it was that simple to hook up the brakes. I thought you had to do all of the plumbing. I will plan on doing so when towing it, just to be careful.

120 miles. Hook on and go. Take two lights and Vise-Grip them to the rear. Sit a battery in the back with a flasher hooked in line. With fourways flashing on the back....go home.

For those of you on the safety side of things. It is. I had a DOT check a couple months ago bringing one back....and they liked how I did it. One came back from Ft. Drum two days ago that way and another later tonight.....280 miles coming back.

JTS, go with what you feel comfortable with.

Now that you mention it, I am going to go this route. The batteries in the M342 are still decent and will start the truck, so they should last flashing the whole way home. I will bring some extras just to be sure they don't crap out.

Great save, I'm glad someone on SS saved it. I was thinking about driving up to look at it, but I haven't sold my single axle GMC yet so mamma might give me the look if I was to bring a second dump home.
