Farm M1008 question

Hi,

I found a M1008 on a local farm, and it’s been run around the farm on off road diesel for the past few years. Would this cause any issues??

I've been getting mixed signals from people

Some say off-road is crap it will clog filters and injectors and give you all sorts of trouble, in the longer run

Others say theirs absolutely no difference between on-road and off-road except the color, especially in older diesels
(I'm siding with these people) but I still have the sliver of doubt in my mine

If that was the case I think there would alot of po'd of farmers fixing their expensive farming equipment.....

the only difference is that the off road diesel doesn't meet the new suflur restriction. so it is more the 500 ppm. The off road is better for the injector pump. I wouldn't have any fear about it. Where are you in PA?

Of waht I have seen and work with the ones that complain that it causes them problem are the ones wanting to find excuses and point fingers. Offorad diesel just has the dye in it to makd a distinct difference between taxed road diesel and the non taxed offroad. If there is any concern run regular diesel and diesel additives to clean it out. you should be fine, and good luck with your truck

The combine that shelled off our corn cost $202,000 in 2003, using the old grain heads. The two tractors pulling the grain wagons, $316,000, for the pair. No one in their right mind would put sub-standard ANYTHING in equipment that expensive.

For years, the on-road and off-road diesel were identical, with the exception of the dye used to differentiate between taxed on-road and un-taxed off-road fuel. I believe that current off-road diesel does not have to be "ultra low sulfur" but, I'm not positive.

I'd suggest not buying a used car from whomever told you the story.....

well i didnt get it yet, the economy is kicking me while im down, all ive got is a diploma and a bunch of debt and no one hiring

the trucks been their for a while so i dont think its going anywhere in a hurry

Heck, I run kerosene in my little deisel Japanese tractor. It put puts just the same. Only issues are cold weather and gelling wax in the filter. A little deisel additive goes a long way.
