After a few searches I have concluded that the torque converter and flex plate for a GM 6.2 diesel and a th400 has SIX bolts.

Is that correct?

So will a 3 bolt 30 spline torque converter work? Will it line up with 3 of the bolts? Or is it a MUST that I have a 6 bolt converter? (after market)

I really wouldn't want to run it that way. With the vibration and torque of the diesel motor I'm sure there was a reason GM added more bolts. You know they wouldn't do it if they could save $1 per unit over a few million units.
