Winterization kit install w/pics

As some may know I bought a nearly complete winterization kit off ebay some time ago and I've just now been able to complete the install.

My only problem is that the fuel pump is not picking up any fuel out of the tank.
My question is, the flange on the top of the tank, does it extend down into the tank or is it only a flange?

the last pic is of the tank pickup tube that came with the kit. but my tank already had the flange on the tank but I'm unsure if it has the pickup attached.

The fitting on top of the tank is only that, a fitting. The extension is needed.

that is what I was thinking. I was going to blow some air into it today and see if I could hear bubbles. but you have solved it. I'll pull the intake pump and hopefully be able to install the pickup tube thru that hole.

Do you leave that pressure gauge on your tank at all times?
And it's only a flange/fitting on mine. No tubes inside (at least the ones I have checked so far).

Ya I leave the gauge on at all times. makes it very easy to check not only the operation of the intake pump but how well it's working. thanks for the info I'll pull the intake pump tomorrow and install the suction tube.
