Well I finally got it home. Here is my new toy. I picked it up in Philly and had some 1600X20 put on it. What a difference. I know there is a lot of controversy about the large tires but they look so good.
It took me about 7hrs to get it back to Hampton VA. I had my daughter’s boy friend follow me back in my P/U. Every time we stopped for food or fuel someone would come up and want to talk about it. I had one guy drag his wife with him from the Wal-Mart where we stopped to a gas station four miles down the road where we stopped for fuel. We saw this guy drive past us at Wal-Mart three times.
I found the truck to run very well. The only issue I have is with the tire balancing. A balancing powder was used but it still has a lot of hop at certain speeds. At no time did the truck feel out of control or even like it was going to do damage but it was annoying and in some cases embarrassing. I found two speeds that the vibrations would be very minimal. At 53 and 62 the truck was fairly smooth. At any other speed it had issues. The front is all tight so I'm sure it’s in the tires. I had to do it just once, but I got it up to just a little over 70 and it wasn't too bad at that speed. Most of the time I ran at around 53mph. One to two mph on either side of 53 would cause the ride to change.
I want to give a big thumbs up to Dave at Eastern Surplus. I didn't get the truck from him but he did hook me up with the tires and rims. He and all of his staff are very helpful. I also picked up a tow bar from Dave just in case.

In image four can anyone tell me what may be wrong? :-D

Maybe take some air out of the tires and let them ride a little softer? What pressure are you running? I know taking the duals on my Deuce from 50 to 42 psi a piece softened up a vibration I had at about 53-55.

The drag link is bent on the steering axle !!
You are correct M813A1, the guy I got it from had no idea that it was that way. He completely wore out the front tires in 150 miles of a 180 mile trip to Philly. One had blown out on him and the other was about too. If had any further to go than what he did, he would have run out of tires getting there.

I had issues with balancing goodyears that looks like what you have on your truck.I was told by a guy at the frame shop some tires are not perfectly round thats why the steering shimmy.I put michelins on the truck and had them balanced it made a big difference.
Thanks ranchhopper, I will check that out.

Thanks Flea, they put 80 in the rear and 100 in the front. I will drop it down. Those of you that are running super singles, what kind of pressure do you run in yours. I'm not going to be hauling anything thats all that heavy this is just a toy for me.

Inspires me to work on my 813. Try playing with the air pressurs in the tires. I have had success rasing the pressure in cars. It may be different in the large truck tires. Looks great.

AndyC, I have contacted an outfit than can spin balance them, so I'm going to try that next. I will keep you informed on what happens.
