no, but when the weather breaks up here I want to replace the glow plugs and if they are swollen I will probably get one, I understand how they work and seems safer than blowing them out with engine compression.

I have one but have not used it yet, I have two stuck in my M1009 I use for plowing. Since it starts I am not going to mess with it untill snow seasoon is over. Curious what broke on yours. Did you ask if they would replace it?

I worked in a military shop and we used a nut cut in half and held back together with a small hose clamp. first back out the glow plug as far as it will go and then put the nut on the threads of the glow plug and put the hose clamp on the nut to hold it together. Then just turn the glow plug again to remove. You can stack more nuts on the glow plug as needed.

You can remove the injector, bring the piston all the way up, then snap off the the swollen plug and remove through the injector hole with needle nose pliers. This is what the HMMWV manual says to do. Fairly easy job.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I can't get it to fit on any of the glow plugs in my '84 1009, nor will it fit on any of the 5 brand new Wellman 070's that were collecting dust in the glove box. It seems that the spot where it narrows down is just a hair too small, so I might try removing a tiny bit of material from the tool and trying again. Unfortunately there's still 2 glow plugs hanging out the side of my block that I can't get to budge.

Mine fits the same as well, I think carefully taking a small diamond bit on a dremel will fix it, just a very little on the forward end, I would wrather have it tight on the plug than loose.

I made a tool out of a cheep, made in china, pry bar. I used a dremel tool to notch the end and while prying with the bar, I spun the glow plug with an air ratchet. It backed right out.
