Finally have a new addition to my personal fleet, this one being my first military vehicle. I picked up this 1972 AM General M35A2 this past Saturday from Fort Fogarty in RI after a tedious EUC wait. When I got there, the truck was waiting for me to top off all fluids and give a mechanical run through. Everything looks good, brakes were perfect and all air/fuel/cooling systems a go. I drove it home 40 miles with no problem at all and let me just say THANK GOD I brought ear protection. These things howl/drone worse than a fisher cat in heat. This is a pretty basic truck with super singles, air ride seat, no winch, soft top, D turbo diesel, troop seats (which I removed to have the wood/bows redone) and very minimal rust.

Best thing about this thing is that I can put three quads and two dirtbikes in the back no problem, not to mention it can hillclimb better than some done up local Wranglers

I've seen quite a few trucks with the jerry cans there lately... kinda outta sight and good place for them, unless you back into something :-/ but definitely not in way of anything...

Whats sticking out of the rear of the truck, under the pintle hitch? Another light post?
Thanks for all the comments. The thing in the rear is the spare tire holder. I took the tire off as I didn't like the way it looked and it seemed as if it hindered the offroad ability of the truck. I tried to put it in the rear bed of the truck with a few buddy's just in case since I didn't know how the tires would fair, but there was no way in hell we were getting it up there.

All i need to do is finish restoring the paint and find a rear camo cargo cover for it.

It's no problem throwing the tire in the back of the truck. I lifted mine onto a 5 gallon bucket and just heaved it it the truck.
