Contract number info

Is there a reference somewhere to look up info based on the contract number on the data plate?
For example, how many units were shipped under a specific contract (DAAE06-68-C-0003)?

The 7th and 8th characters are the year in which the contract was let. It's the same for MREs, ammo and tanks. Obviously many contracts went on for years but it can help to fix a "not earlier than" date for aging.

I know David wrote an article some years back for MV magazine detailing deciphering SNs which, I believe, mentioned the DLA contract number dating in a side bar.

There was a article in MVM that was about contract numbers. It was titled "know Thy Contract Number" . David didn't write it though. I've got it around here somewhere. I'll try and find it and post the info.

Speaking of David Doyle. I haven't seen him around here lately. I figure he's just busy. Anybody heard from him?
