I received my spin on secondary fuel filter adapters today. I quit work early to put them on the winch deuce. Well, after a couple of glasses of wine with friends.

Simple install. No leaks. Follow the directions. Took maybe 20-30 minutes at most.

And, to show you how easy it was, I used a 5/8" box wrench and a pair of pliers to install it.

I did not have the camera, so no pics. I will do the second deuce tomorrow and post the pics of the install then.

I had changed the filters probably in October. Wait till you see the amount of junk that came from the filter cans! I am surprised it ran at all.

John Tennis has come up with some of the most innovative products for the deuce any where. Thank you, thank you, for the first time I feel like the multi-fuel has a chance to last a long time.

Now, it is time to clean the fuel tank. Soon.:-D

I cannot tell you how pleased I am this afternoon. Just a wonderful feeling.

Excellent news!
I have the Primary, and the Oil Filter kits. They are really great.
I just replaced my fuel tank with a like new one that I picked up from a scrap truck, and I got a New Sending unit and Pump as part of the deal. Clean isn't even the word. Like New is more correct.
With the addition of the 2ndry, and final adapter kit and filters, I will also change my primary again then, and run nothing but clean fresh fuel.

John, just let us know the cost again, and if you will be bringing them to Sussex, NJ?

Dabtl, not to steal your thread, but when I dropped my tank to clean it, I dumped in a couple gallons of carb cleaner to remove the gunk. Then 2 gallons of xylene and drain. I ran a fan in the tank over night. Inside was dry as a bone. I hit some of the rust with a wire brush and vaccumed out the tank. Worked like a charm. My tank was not as bad as some I have seen, ymmv.

Any ideas on cleaning up the fuel supply are welcome any time. The crud I found in the change over to the spin on filters is non-magnetic. It must be algae or some other biological product in the fuel system. I put algae killer into the last tank of fuel and apparently it is working.

I am checking out the primary fuel filter to see if it is similarly contaminated. If not this stuff must have been in the system past the primary fuel filter.

I have attached a few pictures of the adapter.

The entire kit consists of a #5070 gasket, an O-ring and the two machined parts.

The pics show the top and bottom of the adapter plate. As you may see the lip on the plate duplicates the rim of the stock filter can. The bottom of the plate is contoured to the dimensions of the spin on filter.

The trick is to join them together, the spin on filter, the adapter and the
fuel filter head. That is the job of the custom screw/spin connector. I have not included any close up of that as it may be a bit of a proprietary matter with John Tennis. But, when you get yours you will see how cleverly it is designed to meet the need.

Assembly is very simple. As you can see in the pic of the stock filters there is a cork seal on the end of the filter. That fits up on the base around the hole for the filter can screw in the fuel filter head (Part # 1093562). John Tennis has provided an O-ring as a substitute and it fits snugly against the circular structure around the screw hole in the adapter as seen from the top. You simply place the O-ring around the base of the screw hole in the
fuel filter head , insert the #5070 gasket, place the adapter screw/spin adapter through the adapter plate and tighten it as you would the stock filter can.

Then fill the spin on filters about 2/3 of the way full and spin them on. You are done.:-D

dabtl is right about the quality and ease of instillation of John's products. When you deal with JT, your dealing with the best and brightest the OD MV Hobby has to offer. This gentleman makes our lives so much easier with his spin on adapters and after you've met him once, you'll remember him for life.

John Tennis is just one of many I've met here on SS that are like that, and we should take the time to appreciate those moments and people in our lives.

For our tomorrows aren't guaranteed !

Those oil filter adapters are great, and I really like the new canvass shifter boots I got from John. I bought boots for both the tranny and trasfer shift sticks so now I have to get em on. When John came through here last summer, the cab of his deuce felt considerably cooler than mine because he didn't have all the heat coming up through the shift stick opening.

Covers for the transfer case. I like. Tell us more. Pics?

They are canvas boots for the transmission and transfer case shift levers where they come up through the floor. They cut down on the air blowing into the cab and seem to reduce the noise a tiny bit, too. they keep the cab cooler in the hot weather, warmer in the cold weather and cut down on the sandy debris that gets blown in the shift lever holes.

The boots were standard as part of the arctic weatherization kit.

I have some pics of the installed filters here. Also a pic of the crud that came from the fuel system after an algae killer was put into the fuel tank. Good thing to have filtered!

I also have a pic of the best place for the stock filters and cans.:-D

I checked the primary fuel filter yesterday. Those large chunks I got from the secondary and final fuel filters were not present. I concluded that they must have been present in the system past the primary filter and were released by the algae killer.

The primary fuel filter had present in it what appears to be a small amount of a very fine brown water impregnated biological mass. It did not react to magnetic fields at all.

The algae killer appears to be doing its job cleaning out the goo.
