Got my truck today! I was giving it an inspection before driving it home. While under the truck inspecting for leaks, I noticed my truck has 2 air tanks. There is no brake light on the instrument cluster and no electrical switch on the e-brake, but there is definitely two tanks. Plus there's a decal on the glove box pictured below.

As for leaks, I saw a wet area around the transfer case and another by the oil pan, but nothing puddling under the truck.

By the Way, how in the world to I check the brake fluid level? I opened the panel on the floor expecting to see a cap on a master brake cylinder similar to a car.

It's an older truck, but shows it had a rebuild in 1991. It also has the 465-D Continental engine and the non-whistler turbo.

It does not have dual master cylinders. It has the latest version master cylinder, that's all. All deuces have 2 air tanks. Read the TMs for the BFS level inspection procedure. You need to take a vent line off and then take the cap off. It don't have a "cap like a car", because it's a military truck!

What DH said. You would need to see dual air packs, not tanks.

And congrats on getting your truck! Safety should be the #1 priority in our hobby. I'm glad to see questions at least asked here, rather than your truck stuck in the side of a Ford Escort in about two weeks on I-5.

its not a car, it says it has a new upgraded master cylinder so it has a new upgraded master cylinder, it has 2 air tanks they all have 2 air tanks, it is air over hydrolic,a simple system but U need to get the TM's also and read, Also U need to do ALOT of reading !! start your serching on all things deuce and u will understand alot more, All the best remember this is a tactical truck , it drives slow and is meant to go slow, it needs ALOT of TLC tighten everything, if it gets away from U U will never bring it back, so learn it all read read read...I mean this with all sincerity, all the best!!!!!!!!...Randy

Got it. Dual tanks are standard. I was under the impression that single tanks were standard on single circuit trucks.

Thanks for the brake advice papercu. I blasted it with brake cleaner first.

I scoured the TM's recommended here, both 9-2320-361-10 & 9-2320-361-20, but there is surprisingly little information about how to check the brake fluid.

Take the top off of the master cylinder, fill it up w/dot 5, close cap. That is pretty much it unless you need to bleed your brakes.
