Well I'm leaving the State of Kentucky and going back to New York State for a short sojourn before grad-school... My question is this anyone actually spend 20 hours in one trip in the M35? I figure the 880miles from Louisville to my home in Up-State New York will take 22hours and about 30 minutes. Now my ass starts to go number after 5 hours on spring seat... So I figure I'll be fatigued, battered and bruised from the ride to New York but I want to make in one day! I'm not a patient man. The longest trip I have had in the truck so far is 200 miles. I'm going 680miles more. it mgiht be insane, but I'm going to do it.

I spent close to that in a deuce driving from Camp Beauregard, LA to Palm Bay, FL. I think Aboonski still has some videos on youtube as we entered the sunshine state just as the sun was coming up. That was a fun trip!

I feel for ya...I personally couldn't do it but there are folks on here that can do a marathon drive and smile about it...including a member that drove a deuce from Alabama to Washington State!!

Good luck Brother

I drove from Wisconsin to Aberdeen in mine.. that was almost two twenty hours days/night. You for sure will be a wreck when its all over.

I can do 600 miles in a deuce and not think twice, done it many many times in one day.. that's ez... now 1200 that gets to you

I drove mine 22 hours straight, and only shut it off once at one of the fuel stops. I had my 1978 international scout SS in the bed of it and averaged 8mpg. the hills in pa on 80 are rough in a non turbo deuce. Ear plugs and ear muff and still got a headache from the staight pipe.

20 hours plus is an awful long time to do anything - let alone drive. I'd consider breaking it into stretches so you don't run the risk of dosing off or losing concetration and driving over someone.

You can do it.

If you can't stand 680 miles how are you going to make the 1,000s of miles on your North and South American trip? :-D

I drove, (with an a/driver), from Colchester, VT to southwest Ohio in my deuce. Approx. 800 miles. We stopped in Syracuse, NY for some sleep. Colchester to Syracuse (4PM - Midnight). We left Syracuse at 930 AM and pulled into my driveway at about 11PM.

It wasn't too bad for us. We had recently returned from Iraq where we had driven M-915-A1s for more than 13 months. The ride in the 915 was brutal and the roads in Iraq were much more torturesome than the highways we drove on the deuce recovery. Even better! No IEDs or attacks along the turnpike! We loved it!

You will too!

Enjoy the trip! :driver:

I find the accelerator pedal to be my downfall on a long trip. I am tall and my legs are positioned so I have to push down on the pedal. This fatigues my entire leg after about two hours. Before I take my next long trip I will reconfigure the pedal or add a wedge.

I have driven to Ft Drum, NY & back 3 times. 450-475 miles/EACH WAY nonstop. It sucks.....bigtime! At least the last 2 times were in a 5 ton.

You will be so sore, you wont want to move for 2 days.

You will not want to drive your deuce for weeks.

But.......DO IT! It makes these "wimpy" 200 mile journeys seem like a dream. haha ;)

yeah all I know is that 22+ hours is along time... I have no choice, I'm leaving Kentucky and my daily driver is a M35 so it just a matter of will power. I just don't want to fall asleep in the damn thing kill someone.
