Deuce procedural question;

TM9-2320-209-20-3-2 paper page 17-15 states that the wheel bearing removal tool is used to remove the rear spring seat pivot bearings.
Is this really the same 3 inch, 8 point socket?
If it is not what is the correct size and is it 6 point or 8 point?

Same TM on paper page 17-50 states to remove the spring u-bolts in order to removed the spring seat housing. I do want to remove the bearings and inspect them very well and the then repack and reinstall them.
I've always read that you should not reused the u-bolts however these are an item that should be inspected by all of us from what I have read in other posts where they have snapped off or cracked.

Should the seals always be replace the first time around for us as owners?

Inquiring minds need to know and suggestions are asked for and welcome from those who have actually performed this job.

Thanks,

Jim

YES! Same nuts & lock-washer, same 392/3920 bearing set (x2), same inner seal as front axle.
Dust shield is specific, though.

Depends how bad they are corroded,.... and they normally are!

Depends on condition. Better not if the only replacements you can find are the cheapo-chin replicas...!
