Fired up the can motor I got from miltrucks for the first time today. Had to put an injector pump, lines, and injectors on it. Got the timing right on the first time, yay!

Took 3 sets of cheap jumper cables to start it. Was trying to melt just one or tow sets.

93 motor, ldt-465-1d, made by hercules, D-turbo, single cyl compressor, tag on motor says "This engine is exempt from prohibitions of the clean air act as amended for the purpose of national security" Looks brand new.

Tagged out as having a head gasket leak. Going to put the radiator on it and see what leaks, didn't see any for the short time I ran it.

Getting it ready for the M108, the gas engine popped it's head gasket, and main seal is shot. Have all the parts to convert it, and am saving all the gasser stuff for the next owner, maybe they will want it gas.

Here's a pic and video.

I think he meant that's what the motor was tagged for when it was canned.

Hey Stretch, you ever had to use the block off plate on a runaway motor? I hear that's a trip.

Groundhopping motors in the can is an awesome experience. I have 3 yet to do and not a second to do it. One day I will get caught up around here.

Can motor is tagged as having head leak.

Gasser motor also developed a head leak. Went to pull the pan on the gasser motor to get at the rear main seal, and had antifreeze in it. Motor runs great, until you run down the road with it, then the radiator overflows, main seal pukes, and antifreeze gets in the oil.

Friend Chris had a piece of wood in his hand to block off the intake, just in case of runaway. Kinda had a runaway on Gimpy's LDS. Didn't have any fuel to it, and it started with just the fuel in the filters, and ran to about 2000 rpm for 5 secs. Already had the oil primed, so no damage.

Want to get rid of the can when you are done? Or the gasser motor? Could always use another project, and need a can.

I have a video (had a video) of me groundhopping a mutlifuel strapped to my old M103A3 trailer. I sent it to a friend to convert the format and never saw the video again. Here's a pic where it's pretty clear that its running.

Did you see your friend again, at least...???:)

Here's a pic where it's pretty clear that its running.
.....and here a detail of the same that made me wondering about if they all behave the same way....
Mine did (almost) run away the first time I started it without hooking up a return spring on the pump acc.lever! :-x

The friend calls me most every day. He's even an administrator here. I take jabs at him whenever I can. When he needs something, I ship it. When I need something, I'll get it next spring! LOL. G, thusfar, all the ones I've started have settled into somewhat of an idle. Just the same I always start from the turbo side of the engine and have my piece of plywood (specifically made for this purpose) on hand to kill a run-a-way. I never gave any thought to a spring on the throttle shaft, bet I will now though!
